My car was totalled, now what? Am I gonna get screwed over by insurance companies?

I was in a car accident yesterday. The State Trooper said it was the other drivers fault and 4 witnesses made statements verifying that. My car is fully paid for. The other driver and I are both fully insured. My car is totalled. I was transported to hospital by ambulance but I have no injuries, just very sore. What can I expect through the insurance companies? My blue book value on my 2015 Honda Civic coupe is 11K to 15k. I missed one day of work and school. I also had medically authorized window tintiing(meaning darker than NC law says you can have) on my car that cost 1k. How screwed am I as far as not getting much money to buy another car?

I'll give you $6.00.

Call your insurance company.

Your insurance should cover that nut. IF it's a reputable insurance company. The good hands people have a tendency to take 10% off the top for "depreciation". Don't take the first offer if they don't give you full price for your car. Get a lawyer and don't take their check. Glad you're okay and good luck.

I'll give you $600 to STFU!

A good insurance company shouldn't punish your rating at all for this, and should give you full reimbursement for your totaled car.

Depends on the other driver's coverage, then you have to go to court for any additional you are out up to blue book value. However, I agree let your insurance company handle this.

You will be paid the used value of your car. The value of your Civic is not $11K to $15K. It is a set amount based on mileage, condition, and which particular model it is. You should also receive reimbursement for all medical bills.

You can't expect to get more than average market value for your car based on its mileage and cosmetic condition. That could be anywhere between about $10k and $15k. If you didn't add a "rider" to your policy covering the tinting or any other after-market additions such as a stereo amplifier and better quality speakers, you won't be compensated for that at all, which is your fault for not adding them to your policy. You may get compensated for lost work, but nothing for missed school. If you currently owe more on the car that it is worth (i.e. Underwater on your loan) and you don't carry GAP insurance, you're SOL and all you can do is pay off the difference and finance a new one. Good luck and try to drive more heads-up in the future. Even though it wasn't technically you're fault, there's ALWAYS some shared responsibility.

You will be paid the fair market value for your car effective just before the collision. Unless you had the forethought to specifically add any modifications, like tinting, they are not covered. Your medical expenses are covered, and perhaps even the loss of one day of work. Nothing else

If you are offered a settlement check and you cash it, that indicates acceptance and you will get nothing more. If you are offered a settlement check that you think is inadequate, simply return the check, do not cash it.

If you are paid a settlement by the drivers insurance of the other vehicle, they will base the amount on the retail value of your car. If the other driver turns out to have no insurance, you would be paid by your own insurance company and your deductible would apply.

Insurance companies do not attract customers by screwing over people. People often screw over themselves by getting options like large deductibles to bring down the cost of their insurance.
