My Honda Civic "Maintenance Required" light has been on for about a week now. What is the issue?

Usually nothing. Its just a light that comes on to annoy people to get regular maintenance done. Many auto part stores like Advance auto will check what the light means for free. If it shows up as nothing important, then ignore the maintenance required light.

Well, not knowing Honda like you do, but I'm guessing that it needs maintenance. I suggest taking it to a garage for a service, or very least a Winter check.

Two weeks ago I had an oil change and my winter tires were put on. I filled my windshield wiper fluid last night. What is the problem?

When the oil was changed the oil change people forgot to reset your light timer. They will do it for you if you go back and say the light just came on.

There should be a code associated with the Maintenance Required light.
A= Change oil
B= Change oil & filter
1. Rotate tires
2. Change air & cabin filter
3. Change transmission fluid
4. Replace spark plugs, adjust valves, and replace cam belt (if equipped)
5. Replace coolant
6. Replace differential lube

Just change the oil, maybe air filter. And check transmission fluid. Then just restart the maintance light(in my civic i just put my key in a hole n it restarts.) read your manual on how to do it. But it should be fine that thing just turns on every now n then

When was the last oil change? The light comes on automatically every 10000 miles

You had an oil change and the person doing the service did not reset the mileage counter again.
This requires someone to read the manual to do the reset so it measures off the next set of miles from the last oil change. So either read the manual or go to Honda dealer and have them do it for you. Takes a couple of minutes. Hell, the salesman can do it. It is not a procedure I memorized. Kind of "LIKE" setting a digital watch (one hour back for the winter). That way the light goes out until the next service period is due and then it comes on again as a reminder. An oil change is still cheaper than buying a NEW vehicle.

They want you back on the dealer ship for service.
