My truck won't start? ( jumpstarted while car was on)?

Ok so last night i was just arriving home and this mom with her kids needed a jumpstart. Long story short when i tried to jumpstart i realized my car was still on smh i got distracted by the lady talking to me and her kids yelling, when I connected the positive it sparked and boom my truck turned off. I quickly removed all cables and turned the key to the off position. Now when i tried to turn it on the lights on the dash, radio and a/c still work like normal but the truck itself won't turn on sometimes the lights ac radio etc work but then the power cuts off. I tried to jump start my truck with a honda civic and while it was connected, the dash radio and ac work but won't jumpstart. Also before i tried to jumpstart the ladys car my truck was having battery problems before. So will replacing the battery work? Could it be a blown fuse? I drive a 2003 V6 Regular cab Silverado

Just throw plastic down the toilet

If you reversed the cables, you can crack the battery casing and blow fuses.

Try a new battery, you may get lucky.

There's normally a large lug fuse in the engine bay fuse box who's job is to blow open when polarity gets messed up like you did. You can't pull the fuse be hand, you'll need a couple tools (wrenches and screwdrivers) and disconnect the battery before digging more. I haven't worked on a newer Silverado (I do more older stuff) but it should be the main bus fuse and is going to be pretty good sized. If something like that is blown it should be fairly obvious once you start looking.

Look at your Maxi-Fuses in the Fuse/Relay box by the Battery. They are plug in Fusible Links 40 Amps and higher. You can buy them at parts stores.

You can hope it is ONLY the main fuse. ( the biggest one in the box) go to a parts store and get one.

  • My 1983 Honda nighthawk 650 won't start with the electric start? I recently replaced the ignition coils because the old ones were getting heat soaked and the bike would die, however now the bike won't start with the electric start it turns over fin and the starter sounds fine but it won't start occasionally it ll start when it's cold or try to but I've been having to bump start it in order to ride it. So what's making it do this? Could it be the kill switch? Or something else?
  • I have a Honda HRX217 push mower. Backfired when trying to start it, now it won't start? It was running, then I shut it off to open and close a gate, and when I went to start it again there was a really loud backfire and now it won't start. It will sound like it's almost about to start but not. Then get progressively weaker each pull. I changed the spark plug and cleaned the air filter. Any ideas?
  • I have a Honda Harmony HRB215 K4 SDA that won't pull start but if I take off the recoil and drill start it, it runs perfect? I have a Honda Harmony HRB215 K4 SDA that won't pull start but if I take off the recoil and drill start it, it runs perfect. I did a compressin test, the pull start only gets the mower to 60psi but the drill gets the mower to 150psi. This mower does have a decompression vale where the ehaust opest about 1/8 of the way. I tore the ead off and checked and cleaned the valves. They don't stick open. Could there be an issue with the decompression valve? Or would it be the piston rings?
  • How come my atv won't electric start but will crank if I push start it? 2006 Honda trx. Doesn't have a pull rope only electric start. The starter motor turns over the engine but just won't start but I'll push it down the yard with it in gear and it will fire right up. I'm so confused by this.
