On a Honda Civic cvcc what does the Cvcc mean? - 1

Compound Vortex Controlled Combustion. It was a pre combustion chamber in the cylinder head. A small venturi in the carb fed a small intake runner into a small chamber in the head that the spark plug went into. The goal to have a larger flame front for better combustion. It seemed to work well but was problematic when it all got old along with everything else under the hood of those cars.

Compound Vortex Controlled Combustion

It was an alternate means of forced fuel ignition from fuel injection, which required more fuel and therefore gave its engine lower gas mileage.

CVCC is a trademark by the Honda Motor Company for an engine with reduced automotive emissions, which stood for "Compound Vortex Controlled Combustion"

It means whatever Honda's advertising department wants is to mean. There's no specific rule about naming cars.

As others say, it was for Compound Vortex Controlled Combustion, Honda's early foray into reduced HC and CO emissions. It was a "stratified charge" system. An area of reasonably rich mixture was present at the spark plug to ensure ignition, which then spread to the leaner mixture in the rest of the charge by means of the swirl, or "compound vortex." When it was introduced there was not much excitement and within a decade it was displaced by electronic fuel injection.

Hi we have no idea so consult with a Honda dealer.

Compound Vortex Controlled Combustion

Compound Vortex Combustion Chamber. Has nothing to do with model ("civic")

It was on carbureted versions only. Honda's attempt at stratified charge: A third valve allowed in a small amount of rich mixture, from separate carburetor venturi. It ignited easily, then the main intake opened. Allowing a leaner mixture ( 14: 1 won't ignite by a spark plug is why.) it was complicated but worked rather well. Gave car fantastic mileage at no loss of power.

It was surpassed by EFI, the software simply told the injector to shoot a small amount of rich, then a bigger charge of lean.
