Overheating Honda civic 2002ex?
It all of a sudden began overheating n spraying stream one morning. I replaced the overflow cap n coolant did no good. I replaced the thermostat and ran head gasket sealant through it and it did no good. We paid to have the water pump timing belt and alternator replacedand thermostat and valve cover gaskets and seals etc.it ran for about two weeks and began overheating again so bad n it would shut off while driving. We paid to have the head gasket replaced and head milled and it ran for about a week and it began slowly overheating and then shut down while driving. Another mechanic says the head gasket was done messy but I don't know. When it first began overheating originally it would be in park and gradually go to red zone hot. I would turn the heat on n get NO heat inside the car or defrost.could the heater core b clogged and causing all this trouble? We have bought a new radiator too but haven't replaced it yet. What is causing this problem? We need our car to b FIXED!
The engine block is bad, it's a very, very common problem on Civics. Replace the engine.
Head gasket sealant lol.
most likely you need a new head gasket, Honda's commonly have their head gaskets fail once they over heat. Many Civic owners never change the coolant as often as required. Most likely your head has warped and twisted, sorry.
You smartest (and cheapest) choice is to get a used engine installed.
If the mechanic that did the head gasket didn't have the machine shop pressure test the cylinder head it may have a crack in it causing the problem.
- Why is my 1998 Honda civic lx still overheating? I've replaced the thermostat, water pump, timing belt, flushed the radiator and done a coolant test to check for gasses and all is good. The fan is wire up so it automatically comes on when ignition is turned on and is blowing the correct way. Do I need to try a new radiator cap or radiator? Engine light is on but it's for a 02 sensor. Any help is appreciated.
- I'm driving a 96 honda civic and my car has been shaking and overheating? I have check for leaks and everything is fine but i do have a rusted spark plug, i'm wondering if that may be the cause of shaking and excessive overheating to the point i'm driving with the heater on all the time. Can anyone let me know if the spark plug is the problem and if i replace this one rusted plug will the car drive back normally?
- My Honda Civic keeps overheating and accelerates very slow? I have Honda Civic 98 EX coupe, and it overheats very quick, i replaced a leaking hose, i got the headgasket replaced, a new thermostate and it still overheats, the car also doesn't accelerate at the rate it should, i could have my foot flooring the gas pedal but it will take forever to eve reach 60 mph.
- My 2001 Honda Civic is overheating and I can't figure out why? I have replaced the radiator cap, coolant reservoir, and thermostat. Also, I check the fans at various times and everytime they are running fine. Lastly, I'm not sure if this information helps, but I live in southern Louisiana where it is almost always hot. I'm a poor 25 year old female college student and I have no idea what else to do.
