Start car and dashboard lights come off then everything turns off?

To begin, my car wouldn't start about 3 weeks ago so I had a friend jumpstart me. I was worried it was the battery so I got someone at Advanced Auto-parts to give me one of those free battery readings. It got a "good" rating, I don't know if maybe it wasn't totally accurate or not. But last night I drove it to a friends house and back. I went into my house for about an hour and came back out to start it up again. The dashboard lights turned on for about a second then everything turned completely off. Then I tried to start it back up again and everything is black. I waited another hour to restart it and when I did the cigarette light came on for second but not the dashboard lights. What could this be? It is a honda civic 2003 with 130k on it. The only problem I've had with the car is a blown head gasket that I've had for awhile. Other than that it's been fine up until this point.

2000 BMW 323i tips/ and what to look out for?

I'm in search of buying a 2000 323i but first I want to see the pros and cons of them, I own a 1995 honda civic which is easy to work on mechanically wise. Ignition switch is broke, instead of replacing can I just install a remote start?

I have a 2003 honda civic lx. A couple days ago we turned the car off and realized the windows were down so we go to turn the car back on to put the windows up and the key would go in but it WOULD NOT turn the car on.
To get this fixed would be 500-600 dollars. We need a cheaper route. Something we can do by ourselves to save money…
I seen some videos of remote starting and push to start. Would these work if that ignition switch is messed up?
U only need the wires to the ignition right?
Please give me some advice here.
Our key does have the chip in it so i don't know if we can do this or not.
This is our only car so any solutions or advice would help.
We have a mechanic in the family and he said it would have to be taken to honda.

2008 honda civic lx coupe 2D

So i'm in the market for a first car, and came across this 2008 honda as mentioned in the title. It has 126,000 miles, and he put a link of kelley blue book that priced the car around 6800. Nothing wrong with the car, runs smooth and has been taken well care of by the owner. He has it as very good condition. Question is, are the miles to high? And what would be a good offer for the vehicle?

Honda Civic vs Volvo S60?

Learning to drive manual transmission?

My dad has been a huge fan of manual transmissions (I believe he initially learned to drive on one), and he taught both of my older sisters (who were made into huge fans as well).

My sisters bought their first new cars (a bright red Mustang and a Honda Civic Hatchback) as manuals, and my dad had to take them both out for a couple of hours that same day to teach them how to drive them.

I… Also just got my first new car (I've been driving for three or four years on a sluggish, ancient automatic already). It's a Mini Cooper (base model; no engine modifications), and I got it for a steal. Anyway, my dad drove it to an empty parking lot for me this afternoon, and I spent maybe an hour or so of driving before he drove it the rest of the way home.

I know I shouldn't expect to just automatically (no pun intended) grasp it, but it's still sort of… Discouraging? I pretty much have the hang of breaking, backing up, and starting from a stop into 1st gear and then shifting into 2nd or whatever I need. It's just really weird for everything need to work together.

Other people who are good at driving manual make it seem so easy and seamless. I'm like, "Go--stall. G… Ooo? Okay! Good! Great! Now… Shift! Oh, slow down. Stop. Accidentally shift into 3rd instead of 1st, stall."

I'm sure once I get used to it, I'll be fine, but right now I'm scared I just made a big purchase that I'm failing at. What can I do (aside from the obvious "practice") to help me grasp onto it better?

Added (1). I think my biggest problem is not being able to understand the mechanics of what I'm doing.

But I'm not vehicularly-inclined whatsoever, so is there a layman's video out there somewhere that explains the concept of manual transmissions?
