Passenger airbag light turned on (Honda Civic)?
I mistakenly left both my front windows rolled down in my 2012 Honda Civic hybrid during a rainstorm and now the "passenger airbag off" light is on, even though nobody (and nothing) is sitting in the passenger seat. The front portion of my car got pretty wet by the time I realized it (I d guess about 20-30mins of straight heavy downpour). What gives?
Water got into the passenger presence detection sensor in the passenger seat.
The water probably shorted something out, and it could get worse. There's a sensor in the seat that tells the car if there's a passenger there or not, and that's what controls the light. Try these steps to dry out the car:
1) Open all doors and windows
2) Use a wrench and disconnect one of the battery terminals under the hood (cuts off all power to electronics)
3) Get a few fans (one around the house will work, or box fans are pretty cheap at Walmart), and set them up blowing through the car
4) Let it sit that way for a few hours
5) Reconnect the battery, and see if the problem is fixed.
If this doesn't fix it, you'll need to take it in for repair.
- Check engine light, open door light, and batterie light all came on and won't go off? 2000 Honda Odyssey I already had the altinator replaced it a month old. The batterie almost a year old. Would the belt need be changed or something else?
- Motorcycle Electrical Problem. Power Commander 3 light flickers when indicators are turned on? Seem to have a lot of problems with the wiring of my motorcycle. Previous owner really messed it up. Sent it to a mechanic for him to fix the headlight and taillight wiring because they don't work. That was more than two months ago! Apparently he is busy and I don't know what else. Bike is a 2000 Honda cbr1100xx Blackbird. Problem now is the lights on the power commander 3 start to flicker when the indicators are activated. What is the cause of this? Bike starts and runs fine btw.
- Passenger airbag off? My mom hit my 2011 Honda Civic on the rear bumber. It was just a small scratch but since then the Passenger Air Bag off light has been on. Is there a way to fix it or should I take it to be repaired? My bad, it said Side Airbag not passenger. @Gary it's a small garage and it was an accident no fraud, no insurance claim is being made and it's a small dent.
- How to turn the front passenger airbag on in my 2014 honda civic? My family just got a new honda civic (standard model without the touch screen) a few weeks ago and haven't had any problems until just this weekend. For some reason the passenger airbag off light came on. It is like this all the time, so it's not an issue of someone sitting in the airbag deploy path. As far as we know, nobody touched any buttons, but we don't know how to turn the airbag back on. Any help's appreciated.
