Purchasing a 2014 Honda Civic EX-$13,500?

The private seller will not budge from 13,500. There's 50K miles on the car, it is in very like-new condition. I feel like 13,500 is a bit too high. He says there are weather tech floor mats, new Thule roof rack, and remote start. Is this a fair deal?

You can look up the book value online.

No, it's too much. I can buy at least a dozen 2015's with less miles on them that are within 20 miles of my house and most of them are under $12,000. Even if I added the rack and floor mats I'd still be under $13k. Find another seller unless they have detailed maintenance records from day one you don't have a lot of choices.

The roof rack and the car mats shouldn't make any difference on the price that you pay. They are a bit of a bonus if you had almost identical cars at very similar prices. If they are wanting too much walk away and wait for a car that jumps out at you at the right price.

Used cars are not thing to find, buyers with the cash in their back pocket are.

He's asking Dealer Retail according to Edmunds. 50K, Outstanding condition, But $12,500 would be right for the car. It was just over $20K new.

If you feel it's too high, leave you phone number, tell the seller to call you if he changes his mind, and walk away.

At least where I live, there are lots of Civic's for sale at any given time.

Look up the value on the Kelly Blue Book website.

Do an evaluation in Kelley Blue Book. Go to www.kbb.com and input all of the information on the vehicle. Use the trade in value or wholesale value to purchase the vehicle. Seller is not a dealer so retail price would not apply.

Why not check the Kelly Blue Book value to get an approx value? Consider the options he has added and go from there. I just purchased a used car from Car Max and got a better deal with a 30 day warranty and 7 day give back if not happy. W/carfax. There are some great deals out there right now so if you feel it's too high, keep looking. I did and finally got what I wanted.

I think, you need a new car.

  • Purchasing Scooter Insurance? Hypothetically-- Can one purchase Insurance for a motorized scooter (Vespas, Honda Activa… 125cc,150cc) with a Class C Driver s License? Or, does one must attain a M1 License to buy insurance? This is for California inquiry. So, thanks to anyone who could help.
  • Is the 1985 Honda CR 500 water pump gear shaft compatible with the 86-2001 Honda CR 500 water pump gear shaft? I have a 1985 CR 500 and the water pump gear shaft broke. It has been discontinued from Honda, and no one else has it. It is a metal gear. The one's for the 1986-2001 CR 500 are plastic. If I have to use plastic, I will. However, I prefer not to. If anyone knows where I can get the OEM 1985 Honda CR 500 gear shaft, I would forever be grateful.
  • How do I get license plates and registration after purchasing a car from the dealership? I bought a "certified used" Honda from a honda dealership in North Carolina. They gave me a slip of paper that says 30 day temporary marker receipt and a paper tag. I paid for the tax and tag so I assume they are handling this. But do I need to pay them a visit to pick up my tag? How does this work. It wasn't explained well. Any advice is appreciated. I haven't calle them yet because I want to be a bit more educated so I don't sound stupid when I call.
  • What is better a 2014 Honda Civic or 2014 Toyota Corolla? I'm looking at these cars in terms of price and more "bang for your buck." Both seem interesting to me and I have yet to test drive them. The Honda Civic seems like it is the better car based on reviews but the newly redesigned Toyota Corolla looks better than previous versions and is slightly cheaper than the Civic. Which one should I consider looking towards? Please do not mention any other car, I'm only focused on these two at the moment.
