Road trip with 150000 miles?

I have a Honda civic 2002 and it has about 150k miles on it and I'm driving from california to oregon and I was wondering. Will my car break down? It doesn't have any problems but it is a lot of miles so if any one has any advice?

If the timing belt has been changed according to the service manual.
If your oil and water levels are correct.
If your oil and filters have been changed at prescribed intervals.
If the car has been maintained and serviced regularly.
If you don't red line it all the way but drive sympathetically

There's a god chance you'll make it. But cars are just a lot of mechanical parts lumped together and things occasionally break.

Good idea to just check on everything maintenance related, checking water, engine oil, transmission fluid, and I would also encourage you to check brakes and tires. I had a friend drive his old Honda Civic up from L.A. To San Francisco and he discovered he needed new brakes when he was driving the hilly streets of S.F. Of course it is more stressful if you need to stop for repairs in the middle of a trip, so just figure out what regular maintenance and repairs are needed before you go. And of course pay attention to the details like engine temperature as you are driving, and if the engine is overheating pull off and check it. You may like to carry some extra engine oil, radiator fluid and whatnot along just in case you discover it is low on something along the way. Older engines may just burn a little oil, it happens as the tollerances get wider with wear and age.

Take it to a shop for them to go through the car just to be on the safe side

Try and find out if and when the timing belt was changed, honda recommends they be changed every 90,000 kilometers.other wise you should be good to go.you, re driving one of the most reliable cars on the planet.150,000 is nothing for a honda. Do get the timing belt checked because if it breaks on you it willwipe your engine out especially if its a v-tech engine.

  • Honda Nighthawk road trip? About to take my first big motorcycle road trip. Going from Kansas to Texas on my 1992 Honda nighthawk 750. My question is if the bike that old will make it there and back without much trouble and if they make saddle bags and windscreens etc that fit that type of bike? Any pointers would help thanks!
  • Are off road motorcycle helmets legal on road in Australia? I was hoping to purchase a Fox racing V4 helmet for a honda crf250l which I'm planning on using mostly for on road communting. I'm new to motorcycles in general and could not find any useful information regarding legal use of off road helmets in Australia (NSW).
  • Is the 2013 Honda Fit with over 50k miles on its clock still good enough for a road trip I'm going to use it for a 150-mile travel to another city. Is the car still reliable enough to do the job?
  • Is the 2013 Honda Fit okay for a road trip? I'm going on a road trip and I'm going to use my 2013 Honda Fit on this 150-mile trip and this is the first time I'm gonna use this car on a long road trip. It uses a 1.3 L engine. My friend said that its engine will over heat. Although my car still runs like new and never had any major or minor issues… Is it okay?
