Should I buy and fix this Honda Civic?
I was offered by a very trusted mechanic who's a friend a 1999 Honda Civic with 176,000 miles on it. The car runs and drives but needs new lines running brake fluid to the rear brakes. New front Brakes, oil change, a new front plastic bumper (metals fine), and inspection. It also needs cleaning on the inside. The car is for sale for $500 and the fix will be $850. The mechanic is confident that after the works put in, ill have a good car for 1,350. This would be my first car. I have a couple other options to, one being a 96 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme. Its ready to go with 136,000 mles for $2200. The Hondas privately owned, and the olds is a dealership.
I'd go with the Honda. Considering the price quote to fix it it's still cheaper than the olds and plus when it is fixed it's going to last a while
The Honda is a worthwhile bet if another Civic in better condition can't be found.
Since you trust the judgment of the mechanic, the Honda should be the better of the two vehicles after repairs.
- How can i fix this Honda Dio? Can i fix it by my own? I wanted to check the front brakes, si i started and raced it holding the front brakes alone. My fingers sliped from the break and I crashed my Dio straight to the wall. Reffer the picture.
- I have a 1998 Honda CRV with 240 K miles. Needs $1200 of repair to pass inspection. Should i fix or buy a newer used Honda civic? Mike? I'm the original owner and have done a good job with oil changes etc. However, it needs 2 front control arms with ball joints and rear struts to pass inspection. I've also gone past my mileage on a second timing belt (first one done at 90K miles). Car body exterior and interior is in pretty good shape. Inside looks brand new. But repair cost at 1200 + timing belt ~500 =~1700 in repars. Is it time for a newer used auto.
- Should I buy this 2008 Honda Civic LX for $5,299 (price is negotiable and it has 163,000 miles)? Per the owner, it's been well maintained (I will get an auto shop to inspect it to confirm that). I see a lot of honda civics for sale now, so I do not understand why so many are for sale since they are reliable. Should I buy this vehicle?
- Should I buy a 2008 honda civic ex-l that has 100000 miles or a honda civic lx that has 82k miles? The honda civic ex-l has only one owner and the honda civic lx is from a dealer. They're fairly the same price
