Should I change my tranny fluid?
I have a 1999 Honda Civic Ex that had brown transmission fluid. It was pretty bad so I drained 3 quarts and refilled it. I was told to get it all out that I would need to do this 3 times but to drive a few hundred miles in between drains to let all the fluid mix. I have done this and now I'm ready for my second drain and refill but, when I checked my transmission fluid yesterday to see if it mixed at all and got a little brown, I saw that my transmission fluid was red. Should I go ahead and do the second drain and refill anyway? Or should I just let it ride out until it's time to change it again?
Hi the fact you mention it is red suggests this is an automatic transmission then i would suggest leave it alone. It has had a change that is all you could do. Other wise it becomes and unnecessary expenditure.
- Tranny Flush, 3 or 9 quarts? I called Honda today and told them my tranny fluid was brown. They recommended that I do a 3 quart drain and fill to see how my car reacts to the new fluid. My mechanic who works for Honda recommends that I do a 9 quart drain and fill because Honda Transmissions won't take it as bad as other cars will. I don't know what I should do because I feel like everyone just wants to make a quick buck off of me.

- Should I get my transmission fluid change? I own a 2009 Honda fit and it has 137k miles on it. It's a manual transmission and bought it 20k miles ago. I have no clue if it has ever had it changed. Should I do it? I have heard mixed answers
- Should I change my transmission fluid? I have a 2009 Honda Fit manual transmission. I bought the car with 100k now 145k and never have had it changed. I've heard horror stories to not to change it on high mileage cars which is why I haven't had it done.
