Should I get a remote start and alarm system on my 2015 Honda Civic Ex?

Should I get a remote start and alarm system on my 2015 Honda Civic Ex?

Added (1). So I'm buying a honda civic ex and it doesn't come with an alarm system, I really want to get one put on there but the finance manager there told me that if i get anything like that put on there that I need to be careful because if it ruins a computer chip or anything in it that it will not be covered in my warranty. So my question is should i trust a third party to do it or should i just not get it done? I mean hondas are like the most stolen vehicle.

Added (2). and also i don't know if he was just telling me that to get me to buy the extended warranty and another question is do you have any idea if the car place could install a car alarm that would be covered with the warranty. I can live without remote start but would really like a car alarm

The car should come with OEM alarm system. What's wrong to keep it and added an aftermarket system? I did on all of my Honda vehicle. Read this and talk to your dealer.

Yes you can with after market alarm/ remote start system. Directed is a company that makes some of top of the line security equipment. Ex Viper, Python…

Question like this being asked from time to time:

Will having a Directed system installed into my car void my new car warranty like my dealer has told me?

No. Under the terms of the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Improvement Act, no new car warranty can be instantly voided simply by the addition of any aftermarket (non-factory) product, including vehicle security products. However, if the added device is of poor quality, or is installed incorrectly, issues of warranty can be brought into play. Your best choice here is to always have any Directed system installed by a professional authorized Directed dealer.

As long as you can prove you had it installed and approved by a licensed installer you should not have a problem.

If the dealership refuses to fix something because you have the Viper/whatever you get system on it you just need to refer them to the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Improvement Act. If they still give you a fuss then move on to somewhere else because they don't care about your business.
