Added (2). what oil weight or grade should i use 10/30 or 5/30 for my 01 Honda civic

Hi thicker oil would make sure the parts are lubricated also a can of STP or wynns would help it last a bit longer.

You want to run the THINNESS oil that will stay in the engine between routine oil changes.

You want to stop anymore wear? Use fully synthetic oil… MOBIL1 is the best oil in the world. Its not cheap but over here in Europe we go longer miles than the states inbetween changes… Once a year is most common fold. And we use thicker oils generally…10-40 is good. Only if it went to minus 15 in winter on a regular basis would we use 5 grade…

A 5/30 oil is mainly used for very low mileage vehicles, you need to use a 10/30 grade.

The recommended oil for your 2001 Civic is SAE 5w-20. If your Civic is not using any oil then stick with the recommended weight but switch to a High Mileage oil. If it is using oil then switch to SAE 10w-30 High Mileage Oil.

I own a 2003 accord lx sedan and the manual says only use 5w-20 in the engine. I also buy the type for high mileage vehicles having near 200,000 miles on it.

Provided you are not having oil consumption issues, stick with the recommended viscosity. Otherwise thicker oil may help.
