Smell gas inside car? 92 honda civic?
I have a slight gas smell coming from the cab of my car. Its a 92 civix dx sedan. I can smell it from inside and slightly from the outside when i stand by the front of car. They are are NO visible leaks on the ground. What can this be? Any honda experts out here?
Anywhere you see a rubber hose connection, then put your finger on the bottom of the hose where it connects. If your finger is wet, that is gasoline. That is where it comes from.
There's no point in looking for visible leaks as gasoline evaporates quickly…
Try to observe when the smell in your car is more intense:
Case1. The gas smell is in the cabin after a rest with the engine off.
In this case the leak is in the cabin with most probable cause being the fuel pump. It is located right under your rear seat and maybe the rubber seal needs replacement ($5 fix).
Case2. The gas smell becomes more obvious as you're driving.
In this case the leak is in the engine compartment and enters the cabin through the air vents. Start searching for leaks on the gas tubes and their joints (or have it checked by an expert). These tubes can be detected as they are routed towards underneath the car and to the rear where the gas tank rests.
The fuel canister is leaking or plugged, it is part of the pollution control system. You will not see a leak, the canister handles vapor from the fuel system not liquids.
It only occurs when the motor is on. I can't tell if it gets worse as i drive but ill keep that in mind.

- Inside of car keeps getting wet? I have a 93 Honda Civic DX. Everytime it rains, the inside of the car under the driver and passenger gets soaking wet. Is there a reason why this happens. Can anyone explain or help please.
