Traveling from Nor Cal to So Cal?

I'm driving from central California to San Diego and I'm driving my 1999 Honda Civic with 201K miles, engine runs like a champ and has a new catalytic converter and a bunch of new parts. I'm just kind of scared it won't make the up hill on interstate 5 in Kern County ("The Grapevine") so I was wondering if I go down US 101 (I know it's about 30 miles longer) but is there some type of really drastic up hill on 101 heading from Santa Barbara down to Los Angeles?

There's the Conejo Pass on Camarillo up to Thousad Oaks that will make your engine work harder. If your engine runs like a champ, then you should have nothing to worry about. If you're still worried, just go on PCH all the way to Los Angeles.

Once you leave for Santa Barbara, when you hit Oxnard, take the exit on Oxnard Blvd. And ride through LA on the PCH. That way you can avoid any hills.
