Uber and Lyft Vehicle Age Limits?

I'm interested in becoming a Uber and Lyft vehicle driver, but as you know, they do have age vehicle limits or else, they won't let you drive with them.

I'm driving a 2003 Honda Civic in the Lexington, KY area. Lyft will take my vehicle, but not for long due to a 12 year age limit. Uber will not take my vehicle at all because they wants vehicles that are 2005 or newer.

Should I lease another vehicle that either Lyft or Uber will take? The reason I want to drive with them is because I have smartphone and want to make a little extra money in, besides my current job. If driving for Lyft or Uber is not an option, what are some other apps on Google Play that good to use for making a little extra money? Obviously, they are refusing to take my Honda Civic, but that's their problem and their company policy. I'm battling depression and no one should feel buying a smartphone is a waste of money.

I don't understand how the decision of whether or not to upgrade your car so you can drive for a ride share program determines whether or not your smart phone is a waste of money.

Do you use your phone for other things? Internet? Facebook? Games? Texting? If you're getting value from those things then the cost of the phone isn't a waste.

The decision of whether or not to upgrade is one to think carefully about. Remember that the cost of driving a vehicle is more than just the cost of gas. You're putting wear & tear on the vehicle, running up the mileage which makes it depreciate faster. It means that much sooner that you'll need to get fluids flushed or tires & brakes replaced. So just make sure its worth the total cost before you sign up.

Buying a smartphone is a waste of money, especially if you don't have the money to spend on the phone.

So is the idea of leasing a vehicle when you don't earn enough money to buy a car, (leasing requires better credit and wages than taking a loan to buy a car) and you would be using it to drive, potentially putting more miles on the car than your lease would allow.

You would spend more in gas than you would make driving for either service. You would earn less than minimum wage while working for them. You need special, expensive, commercial insurance to use your vehicle for work. Does this really make sense?

  • What does P mean on a parking ticket where your vehicle type is written? As in: Vehicle GRY HOND P? I received a parking ticket and really can't afford to pay it! My friend told me I should look for typos on the ticket in order to contest it. On the ticket where the vehicle type is listed, the line reads: "Vehicle GRY HOND P". I do own a grey honda, but I was not sure what the P stood for? I tried to google but couldn't find anything - please help!
  • My 2007 Honda Element has a mint body and interior and under 64,000 miles but due to its age it needs about 4k in work, here is the list New tires, front struts with dust boots and bump stops, rear shocks, alignment, water pump, universal belt, front lower ball joints, outer tie rod ends, timing side engine mount, rear brakes, flush and bleed the system and emergency brake adjustment. Should I do the work and keep it due to low miles and good eyeball condition?
  • Arkansas motorcycle engine size restrictions for age limit? I'm about to turn 16 and am thinking about getting a motorcycle. It says an MD license is for riders 14-16 and restricts them from having a bike with an engine greater than 250cc. Well the M class license allows for I bigger bike for ages 16+. Am I legible for the M class? Do I need to take certain classes/test to get M class instead of MD class license? I'm wanting the new Honda CRF300 ABS. I really need to know everything and the websites I find don't help.
