What can cause wiper blades to crack a windshield on an 06 civic?

I have a 2006 Honda Civic. There was a tiny crack in the windshield. Recently it got bigger, I thought it had something to do with either the fact that it's cold and it's getting hit with hot air and cold air but I also noticed on that particular day I had used the wipers but I didn't really think it was the wipers. Since the crack was small enough we repaired it with the resin kit and I could no longer see the crack. It's rained since but I haven't driven in the rain until today. It was kinda sleeting/raining and I drove 5 mins down the street and saw a definite new crack but in the same spot (kinda under where the tip of the left blade would lies when down). Half way home the crack expanded towards the left. I'm going to have to replace it now but I want to know is it really the wipers that are causing this?
Btw we had blades replaced and from what I can tell, there's no issues with the top of the left one doesn't actually touch the windshield and the guys at AutoZone couldn t figure out why

You wipers DID NOT crack the windshield. They MAY have slightly accelerated the growth of an existing crack.
The 'new' crack isn't new. It is the original crack. The repair failed because is hadn't fully cured before the rain washed it away.

Your windshield just failed. Replace it. You are overthinking. Replace the blade and the wiper arm if you want to be sure. But it will be just a waste of money.

To confirm what others have said, it's not your wiper blade, just coincidence that the crack developed in that area. Looks like your repair attempt wasn't successful. Simple as that.

For what it's worth, those repair kits won't stop a crack continuing, they only work on stone chips and the like.

Replace the windshield. The repair kits don't work on cracks… Just holes. You're just wasting your money.

Your wipers didn't cause it, it's just a coincidence that you used your wipers that day.

The resin kit does not always work. Cracks tend to get bigger when you have hot air blowing on it from the inside and the outside is cold. The wipe blades have nothing to do with it.

A flying rock cracked the glass. Once glass cracks lengthwise, you can't stop it with a resin kit. They work on circle crack marks. As there's not linear crack going away from it. You got a windshield replacement crack and there's nothing you can do to stop it. Glass is just that way.

Wiper blades don't crack windscreens. You probably had a hit from a stone that you didn't notice. Once glass cracks it is difficult to repair. The vibration of the car and subtle flexing of the A-pillars, is enough to make the crack propagate. By the way your wiper blades should touch the glass along their entire length. If they don't simply bend the are gently until they do.

Contact Honda for a defective wiper arm it's under a special warranty umbrella

Your windshield probably had received a small stone or pebble hit form a passing car sometime in the past and those can sit dormant until extreme cold or heat will make it expand. Best to replace it before you get a ticket or worse.
