What car should I buy?

I'm currently in grade 11 wanting to buy a car for university. I want to know my best option there's for someone like me. My two chooses are Honda Civic and Kia Rio. University of Toronto is my first choice… I know that there's a lot of people in Toronto and a lot of cars, but what if I have a job far away from my dorm. Anyway, what are the pros and cons of both cars, what is the ideal mileage, what other cars are best for a student and what car would you chose.

Go to sources like kelly blue book and edmunds to get reviews on cars. If you have the VIN number of a specific vehicle you're looking to buy, you can look at the history of that car.

if either one is affordable, get the Civic. More reliable, and better gas mileage. I have one my self and get almost 32 miles per gallon. Around 300 miles / tank. Sometimes more on high way.

Buy the one that is the least used (needs fewer repairs) and uses the least gasoline.

I know the Honda Civic as quite reliable, but a Seat Ibiza may also do its job quite well. My sister has one for almost 20 years now. If it's just for driving from your home to uni and/or work, almost any car will do. But you'll need good tires for summer and winter, that's what you must think of.

And, please: You said you don't know anything about cars. Alright, you do not have to. But knowing how to refill the oil or changing a tire in an emergency is really not much to learn.

Having been at many college campuses over the years, my advice is that you do NOT have a car on campus. And many colleges do not let freshmen and/or sophomores even have a car on campus.
Negatives - paying for parking permit, getting parking tickets (trust me it happens), it will get dingged/damaged, and the insurance will be very high as that is a high risk/accident urban area.
It is a waste of time and if you don't have all the car costs, you may not need to work. And if you do there are plenty of jobs on campus or nearby.

Go for Honda Civic and buy a second hand one. The remaining money should be used on your expenses at university
