What engines can I directly swap my D16y8 Honda motor for? It has to be more powerful and easy to swap?

I have a civic with a d16y8 and its served me well but what motor could I easily swap in? I want to use the same gearbox but I don't mind swaping the ECU. The easier the swap and the more HP the better.

Would prefer to use the stock manifold and intake etc.

It's easier to get a diff car

The D16Y8 basically a 1.6L 16-Valve SOHC VTEC with about 127HP found in 1996-2000 Honda Civic EX, HX or SI (USDM). 127 HP to pull about 2500 Lbs is not bad for a compact vehicle.

What range of HP you want and what's your budget? The gear box may need another one instead of the original one with a different gear ratios. Tell me more about what your desires: More power for what: Racing? More power will cost money. Easy to swap will limited the choices of power plants and modifications. I'll need more elaborate information from you.

  • Vertical shaft engine directly to a gear box? I have a honda vertical shaft 5.5 hp engine and i'm making a go kart out of wood. Could I directly connect the gear box that has the engaging part on it, to the engine? Do I need to put a chain? I'm trying to make this as simple as possible thanks. Ps. I'm only 13 and although I have a good vocabulary please talk in 13 year old words.
  • Is maintenance for a Honda XR650L easy and simple? I ask because I want to buy one for a daily user. Is maintenance the same like a regular motorcycle? Example: More/less frequent oil changes. I wanted the L because c mon, That back hasn't changed mechanically speaking since 92 so you know that s solid engineering. I've owned and still ride an 88 route 66 for 3 years, done my regular oil change 3000miles, lube job, etc. So would it be the same? More work, less work. How s it looking?
  • I'm 5' 10 135lb and was wondering if a 93 Honda cr250 2 stroke is too powerful for me? I've ridden dirt bikes several times before. And will be using the bike for backyard bashing and desert ridding.
