What is a good first used car?
I'm looking to purchase a used car. I would like to have something that has a small body but isn't small on the inside (ex: scion tc, honda civic 4 door, etc). I've been looking online and I've seen a lot of older BMW's and Audi's for sale. I've been told that when foreign cars like those are old, the repair and maintenance cost are very high. I'm a college student, so I can't afford to $350 oil changes and $500 tuneups, etc…
I just want something reliable, low maintenance, and that's stylish. The Scion TC is one of my favorite's but they are expensive. I'm not looking to spend more than $7500.
You mentioned the Honda Civic, that's a good start. Also the Toyota Corolla
European cars are the only foreign cars that have expensive maintenance so avoid the BMWs, Japanese/Korean cars are dirt cheap to repair and maintain. I own 2 old cars (Mercedes and Honda, 2002 and 1998 respectively), I bought each an oil filter this morning, $5 for the Honda and $20 for the Merc. Not sure about the oil change since i do it myself. Each will require a minor repair and Honda parts are 50% or more cheaper. Both are excellent, reliable cars tho.
Toyota Corolla, especially an old one as they never die.
If possible buy a new one, i won't ever suggest anyone to buy a used car. You'll have to spend on alot maintenance charges afterwards, better pay in installment for the newer one instead.
Honda/toyota
vintage fastbacks are nice in the celica range
Either a Honda civic or Toyota Corolla
Buy a hyundai. Parts are cheap.
Well try a civic.
Mercedez
Are you trying to finance the car or paying cash? Be careful with the Civic unless you get a 4 door. The sporty version make for expensive insurance. I personally like GM, Ford, and Chrysler cars. Especially the newer Chryslers. I got the 200 this time and I swear my car just loves to haul *ss since they put the same engine in there they do a lot of 300s and its a lighter car. A Sedan will be cheaper insurance and have better resale value later on. Plus, if you have to work on them it's not as compacted up underneath the hood.
Get a Jaguar 2003-2005 S-Type V6 and V8 engine are durable maintenance isn't too bad either
- What would be a good mileage for a used car? I'll be 16 soon and want to get my car as soon as possible… I'm looking at hondas from 2012-ish, what would be a good mileage? Is 50k a lot for the age? Would I want something with less mileage?
- What a good car for 4000 dollors or lower. Used? Can't be a honda. -has to be a reliable car brand -automatic -gets to be a guy car I was thinking about a scion tc but i don't think i can afford it
- Is a BMW E30 90-91 a good first car/ project car? I'm looking into getting my first car but also want something to build up and make my own. So far i want a rwd import. No Hondas. Any suggestions?
- Honda CRV for my first used car? I'm shopping around for my first car, i for sure want a Honda CRV. (I want it 2008 or up) Now on places like Carmax or something, the cheapest version for the 2008 is like 73k miles or up. Should i buy that? Is that too many miles? Or should i give a few grand more and get like a 2011 honda crv with fewer miles? A few grand is a lot for me (poor student) but will it save me money in the long run?
