What size socket for removing glove compartment?

I'm replacing my PCM in my car. I got the the point where I'm removing the glove compartment, and I came across a bolt that I need to remove. I think it's removed with a socket? But I don't know what size. I have tried a few. Is there a standard size for Honda Civics? Also, would it be one like 11/32", or 7mm?

There's not a one size sockets fits all bolts thing in cars The glove box has a removal procedure Honda uses metric system Honda is not an American company Japan uses the metric system So all Honda's use metric sockets and wrenches Here is a link that tells you the removal procedure http://www.ehow.com/...civic.html

When you have a car question make model yr is required info So hopefully for you this procedure is the correct one for your vehicle Not all Honda glove boxes have the same procedure

Hope it helps

First: Most questions in automotive repair field and specially in YA forum. We're all need to know the Year, Make, Model, Trim (Like EX, DX etc) and type of transmission in order to give out proper advises.

All I know you have is a Civic. The PCM is rarely go south on these cars. What make you think the PCM need to be replaced? Why you're digging into the glove box? What do you expect to find behind it? Of course, the PCM won't be there.

The engine control module in most Honda Civic with the 1.8-liter engine -- the engine that came standard in base-model Civics from 2006 through 2012 -- is under a cover on the driver's side of the engine compartment, just inboard of the under-hood fuse and relay box.

Older Civic have the PCM buried under the front carpet on the front passenger seat or at the right front kick panel.

Second and last: You're sound like not really familiar with Honda so get someone who know to help you out and talking about the socket you need: It's depend on the year of the car which I don't have and the glove box held together by screws so all you need is a stubby Philip screw driver.

Edit: Update the information on the car and state the problem(s) and why you want to replace the PCM and I'll help with instruction, diagrams and needed materials.

  • Is there anyway to add a motercycle compartment to a volkswagen van? I'm planning a cross country trip in the future with a '73 Volkswagen van. It runs well but I wouldn't want to take it on rough roads so I was thinking about taking my bike with me on the road. It's a 2003 Honda rebel, 250cc. I was wondering if there was anything I could add to my van so I could take my bike with me. Anything helps, thanks.
  • 2007 Honda CR-V can't open spare tire compartment after accident? I got rear ended. The tailgate is toast, bumper doesn't look too bad but I can no longer open the spare tire compartment because the cover is jammed shut. The spare tire well looks fine from the outside though. Is this evidence of frame damage? Is my vehicle totalled?
  • What's the best way to start removing paint on a car? So I just bought a Honda civic (used off crag's list) and I want to paint it flat green, no gloss or anything. I want to (at least try) to do it on my own, Not sure if ill paint it myself but I want to strip the paint and lay the primer. However I'm not sure what's the best way to start. And what's faster to remove the paint and clear coat.
