What will waste more gas, Clogged Cat or Non Cat converter?
Does a Honda civic waste more gas if the catalytic converter is clogged or a civic without a catalytic converter (pipe only)? Or what?
A clogged cat will cause all kinds of problems including bad gas mileage. A missing cat will cause air pollution and your engine light to come on but will not effect driveability.
I've seen on a few early 2000's diesel trucks when the emissions stuff is removed it goes from 10 MPG to 20 MPG. Not so sure about gasoline engines.

- What could cause a Honda civic 2000 to waste too much gas? I already fixed and replaced the following: Spark plugs Oil change Wheel alignment / chamber fix (what is this?) New tires This is a hatchback and the car is very fast in automatic. How could I figure this out?
- How to make my 2001 Honda Civic LX more gas reliable? I'm not the type to spend money on speed upgrades. I would like to range somewhere between 36 to 40 city/Highway but if there's a way to get more, I'd like to know. What parts can I buy and what can I do to make my car get the best of gas mileages?
- Does a Honda civic 2000 waste more has without a catalytic converter? I have a Honda civic 2000 without a cat and has a pipe instead, it needs the secondary oxygen sensor. But I was wondering if the catalytic converter affects the gas usage an anyway?
