What would be the best used Mercedes $10k or less?

I have experience with mid 90's Mercedes electronics, and would be doing most of my own work, but can't decide between a 1987 300d with 280k miles for $1200, and would set aside $8800 for repairs as needed, a 1997 300td for $6900 with 122k miles, or an s420 1997 for $2500 with 164k miles? I'm obviously not rich, and would like to lean more towards reliability with proper regular maintenance. What do you suggest? ( I know Mercedes are expensive cars, I drive and would continue to drive most days my Honda civic, this Mercedes would be a project with the intention of long road trips when completed.)

  • Which is the better Indian Gear less Scooter. HONDA Activa / TVS Jupiter / YAMAHA Alpha / SUZUKI Lets? I'm planning to buy a scooter and confused among HONDA Activa / TVS Jupiter / YAMAHA Alpha / SUZUKI Lets. My Criteria is 1. Concerned about mileage than Power. 2. Should have long run engine than any other features, bcos not plan to change scooter for next 10 years. 3. Price of scooter not a problem 4. Metal body preferred than Fiber. Friends from your experiences please advise for a decision.
  • Which brands of cars are more reliable and less expensive to maintain? I have been driving American cars, Honda, Toyota and they're easy to find parts when something go wrong. I would like to buy a Volkswagen beetle or a European car. Like 2004 or 2003 Volkswagen beetle. If something go wrong, does it cost more to fix it? Is maintenance more expensive than a Honda or a Toyota yaris. I know the Honda and Toyota last forever after a few hundred thousand miles and they re still in excellent running condition with regular services. What do you guys think?
  • Transmission fluid turned brown after 10k miles? I have a 2001 Honda Prelude auto and I was wondering how come my transmission fluid turned brown only after driving it for about 10k miles. The car currently has 84k miles on it and I'm hoping the tranny isn't going bad.
  • New honda pilot vs used Mercedes GL450? I'm trying to decide between 1) New 2015 honda pilot touring 2) Used 2012 mercedes GL450 Both cars cost around 40k and both are 3 row SUVs Right now I'm split 50/50 on which I should get. If anyone is familiar with both cars which one would you get?
