When should I do an oil change, rotate tires, and balance tires?
I purchased a brand new 2013 Honda Civic LX Sedan in just this past february. I'm currently at 7,300 miles. I scheduled an oil change, tire rotation, and tire balance for this upcoming Saturday. Is that too much for a brand new car? I wasn't really sure.
Change the oil and filter every 3,000 miles.
Rotating tires every 7,500 is recommended but I tend to do mine every 15,000 miles.
Tire balancing every 15,000 miles along with a rotation (front to rear keeping tires on the same side) is the way to go.
In normal driving conditions changing oil every 3k miles is simply overkill. 4 to 6k is fine. Tire balance and rotation (yes, done at the same time) should be performed every 6 to 10k.
Tire rotation is old hat. The tire manufacturers and most car makers do not now recommend it, other than ensuring you have the best tires on the rear, whether front wheel drive or rear wheel drive.
As for oil changes and servicing, that's in the book issued with the car. I would be surprised if Honda didn't state it as every 10,000 miles or 12 months, whichever comes first. You can though do it more often if you prefer, particularly if the car has a hard time of it, such as many short journeys. I do an oil and filter change at 5,000 miles or 6 months, just for my peace of mind.
All that stuff you mentioned is in your hand book that came with the car!
Here's a tip, look in the glove box there's a folder in there with everything you need to know about your car. As for synthetic oils, it is a waste of good money.
I've always changed conventional oil ever 3000k miles. Change full synthetic oil ever 6000k.
Rotate tires ever 6000k miles and balance every 12K
You should change your oil, the first 1 or 2 times, every 3000 miles. After that, change the oil every 5000 miles.
So, yeah, this should be your second oil change, but it sounds like it is not. Just do every 5000 from now on.
So, I rotate my tires every 10,000 miles and get the alignment and balance checked at that time.
- 2004 Honda Pilot! I did an oil change today check the manual for the engine oil capacity, it is 4.8 liters and put 4.4 liters and add .5 ltr? Total engine oil put is 4.9 liters and I'm surprised the dipstick is above the second hole by 10mm. Is it overfill or do i need to remove some?
- Did oil change on 2004 Honda odyssey about 2 weeks ago .this morning I notice a puddle of oil on ground plug is tight and filter is tight? Did oil change on 2004 Honda odyssey about 2 weeks ago. This morning I notice a puddle of oil on ground plug is tight and filter is tight? - 1
- Front wheel doesn't rotate freely in new bike? Front wheel doesn't rotate freely in honda shine dx with cbs disc brake which is only 3 days old. Is it normal for wheels with disc brakes to rotate slightly sticky or is it a faulty brake assembly? I'm very confused because front wheel doesn't freely like rear wheel. Service center is too far away from my home and the showroom guys says brake condition is normal.
