Which of these two cars would you get?

So I have about 20 days until I buy my first car. I've been saving for months for this! So I'm down to two cars that I decided I could live with. They are:

2001-2002 Volvo S40
or
1999-2000 Honda Civic

Insurance will be the same for both under my dad's policy I'll be paying about 130 a month for either car. I really only intend to keep the car for 2-3 years tops. Gas money is really no concern either the Volvo requires premium but that's only 15 cents or so more a gallon so I'm not crying over it. Keeping that in consideration which one would you get considering they're both roughly the same price?

Sight unseen, if all other things are equal, i.e. Condition, mileage, need for minor repairs, et cetera, I would pick the Honda. (Especially if it's a 5-speed and the clutch is good. Honda automatic transmissions in early 2000s were not quite as reliable as in years past.)

I would not buy a Volvo - or a Jaguar - from the "Ford umbrella" era. None of Ford's European acquisitions made them any money, and when a division is losing money, corners get cut in order to "bring it in line with expectations." If you did, I'd be sure to find a good independent mechanic who specializes in Euro cars.

Volvo S40

FORGET the Volvo. It'll be in the shop more than out, and will bankrupt you. Do the smart thing and get a Civic or Corolla.

I would go with the Honda mainly because repairs will be cheaper and more people know how to repair them.

Well 15 cents a galon is quite a lot but since you say you have no money then ok. I would get the honda just cause it is more reliable. Sure a volvo sounds more fancy but lets be truthful: Japanese know what they're doing! Especially when talking about a used car it is very important to choose a reliable car

I would go with the Volvo. It is more premium and solid. Honda is probably going to be clapped out.

VOLVO is made to EUROPEAN standards and is better! It requires only REAL EUROPEAN GRADE full synthetic oil init like RAVENOL< pENTOSYNTH or MOBIL ONE 0W-40 or PENNZOIL ULTRA EURO full synthetics! HONDA Parts are NOT CHEAP at all! VERY PRICEY! Volvo and other EUROPE$AN cars are TOTAL LEADERS in safety, power and economy LASTING VALUE and carry technology that HONDA does not have yet! HONDA is a GREAT CAR< but a VOLVO is a great AUTOMOBILE! A small difference! ACTUALLY I WOULD GO for a good USED AUDI over either one! They NEVER RUST and are even MORE advanced in technology! Get the car that FITS you best and that will NOT cut off circulation in legs!~ VOLVO uses orthopedic seating, same as AUDI< BMW< and BENZ! GOOD LUCK! VOLVO has GOOD cars and BETTER cars! AUDI outhandles BOTH OF THEM!

You don't have to put premium fuel in it, I have a 2005 BMW 330xi and it says 91 + octane, I put in 89
