Why do people hate Hondas?

What's so bad about them other than the fact that there are idiots that overdo the customization and everything? Also, when I trade my current car in for a Civic, I DO NOT plan on adding any unnecessary customizations to my car as I'm not the type of person who likes to race.

So really, what's so bad about Hondas?

Nothing is bad about hondas. They are upon the most affordable and reliable cars.
The only thing bad with them is that there are idiots that buy a civic, put in a loud exhaust and forget to upgrade everything else. So it just becomes almost as slow as a stock car, just… Louder. Thats the only thing wrong with them.

I didn't like the lack of torque in the older cars. They also tend to be overpriced in the used market. That's about it.

From about 1998 to 2007 Honda had serious reliability problems. 1998-2004 was the Great Honda Automatic Transmission Debacle, with automatic transmissions dropping like flies. That earned the 2003 Accord carcomplaint.com's 2nd worst car on record status and the 2004 Civic the fourth place - see the first source.

2005 and 2006 had the less widepread but even more serious porous engine blocks in Civics, and 2007 had rear brakes that wore out many times faster than they should have. It was a dismal decade for cars that already had long histories of fragile fuel pump relays and ignition switches. You would think it would take less than two decades to fix the fuel pump relay problem, wouldn't you?
