WhY does my car shake so much when I go over little bumps?
I have a 2006 honda civic w/more than 100k miles and I traded it in for my other car. My problem is whenever I drive over small bumps, the cAr would shake violently even if I go slow. How can I fix this?
Your best first stop would be any shop that does front end/alignment work. They do free visual inspections, which brings in people who already suspect they have something wrong and they get a chance to see what they are up against so they can give an informed estimate.
The big concern is bad ball joints. Get those fixed right away so you don't end up like the pictures in the source. The sway bar bushings are likely to be bad, too - they are frequent failure parts, especially in Hondas - but at least they won't leave you beside the road wondering what hit you.
Have a mechanic check out the suspension. It sounds like you have loose ball joints and/or tie rod ends.
- Hit a pothole, car makes scratching noise on bumps? I hit a pothole going about 50 mph on a highway entrance ramp. Car drives fine but on any sort of bump/dip in the road, the car makes a scratching/grinding noise from the left front tire (the tire that hit the pothole). It's an 05 Honda pilot, not lowered. What do y'all think it might be?
- Why does my 2008 Honda Fit intermittently shake when AC is on, in drive, and foot on brake? The shake is every 2 to 10 seconds, darn short each time, and hardly strong. (If it happens when I'm driving then it would be hard to notice). It definitely does not happen when in park or the AC is off. Three weeks ago I got a rebuilt transmission. This started for the first time 3 days ago.
- Honda crv squeaking again. From the back side. Over bumps 98 model? My crv was squeaking bad so I had my camper bushings replaced last year and the noise stopped. Now all of the sudden it started making the same squeak over bumps again only after a year. The garage guy told me to lubercate them. Considering my car isn't low to the ground can't I just crawl under and spray the lubercant without lifting the car up?
- Why does my car shake? Timming belt was changed but had a oil leake after that. (Didn't have one before). I put oil in the car because I assumed it was low and right after I put Arco gas in it(was running on empty). Right after doing this the car started to shake and felt like it was going to turn off. Check engine light began to blink, battery light would kinda light up. I would reive the engine and it would be fine. This happens only when I have the car at a stop or light. It's a Honda Civic 2004.
