Why is my 1996 honda civic turning off when i lift up my 4th spark plug wire?
That is one car that you should NEVER pull the spark plug wire on when the engine is running, you will burn up the ignition control module. It's a small part, under the distributor cap, and the go bad often enough. If the car is already misfiring, killing one of the good cylinders will also cause the engine to die. If it is running normally without doing something stupid, stop doing something stupid.
Because it is number 1 cylinder. And you are also losing the number four, simple.
