Why is my car overheating? - 2
Back in June, my 2002 Honda Civic began to overheat every day. Repair shop put a new thermostat in and it ran perfectly. Problem solved! Or so I thought. It ran fine for about 6-8 weeks. Then it started overheating again out of nowhere. Another new thermostat was put in, thinking the old one may have been defective. My car ran fine for another 6 weeks or so and then it started to overheat again out of the blue. What the heck? Repair shop is puzzled.
Test the thermostat that is supposedly bad - if the shop doesn't know how to do that - find another shop.
A pressure test of the cooling system should have been done first. It was probably a leak and they mis-diagnosed it. No other explanation for running that long until it overheats again. Keep a close eye on the level until you have this solved. Otherwise, you'll be buying a head gasket. (not cheap)
Pressure test was done and no leaks.
- Why has my Honda VTX 1300 Motorcycle been overheating ever since I laid it down? I changed the coolant, cleaned the air filter and got a new thermostat but still over heats if I'm sitting at every red light. Will start up after it cools down but always over heats when I idle too long. Any ideas?

- Why is my 1998 Honda civic lx still overheating? I've replaced the thermostat, water pump, timing belt, flushed the radiator and done a coolant test to check for gasses and all is good. The fan is wire up so it automatically comes on when ignition is turned on and is blowing the correct way. Do I need to try a new radiator cap or radiator? Engine light is on but it's for a 02 sensor. Any help is appreciated.
