Why my kenwood kdc-148 won't keep the settings saved?
I recently installed a new Kenwood KDC-148 radio in my 98 honda civic lx… I have set it so that DEMO MODE is OFF, and changed the time on the unit to the correct time, yet everytime I switch off the engine it resets. I have all the speaker wires hooked up which leaves me with a blue wire and a brown wire that's not in use and my red and yellow wires that powers the radio are hooked up to the red and yellow wire coming from the car harness! Can't seem to find the memory wire!
Typically the yellow wire is for the memory. It should be hooked up to something that supplies power regardless if the key is turned on or not. The red wire would go to a power source that turns off with the key.
I suspect that the yellow wire isn't "always hot". You say you got it on a harness, but something isn't quite right. You need to get that yellow wire to something that is always hot. I'm wondering if maybe one of your fuses is blown. I'm a bit rusty from my wiring days. I'm thinking that if the yellow wire doesn't have power, then the radio wouldn't turn on correctly, so the fuse thing might be wrong. But definitely check voltage on the yellow wire when the car is turned on and off.
The Red is the Switched Positive, The Yellow is the Permanent (Memory) Positive. Make sure that they are matched across the junction (ISO (2 X 8 wire.
Most new radios would require that to be connected to be able to input the Security Code and save it along with the Stations

- I have a 2006 Honda Metropolitan, WHen cold it starts up but i have to keep revving it to keep it going? I have already replaced the battery, air filter, spark plug, did an oil change, got new gas, cleaned out the carb. Once it is warm i have no issues with it. It usually takes about 3 to 4 min of driving it to get it warm but once warm everything is fine with stopping and going.
- Why does my fuse keep blowing in my cigarette lighter when it exceeds the factory specs? I bought a Satechi sound-fly AUX FM modulator, which plugs into my cigarette lighter. It includes a 500mA fuse and a replacement. Both of these blew out. I tried a 2 Amp and a 5 Amp. They blew out as well. I drive a 2003 Honda CR-V, and the lighter is 12V.
- Why won't my car won't start after putting in gas? I have a 2007 civic, 80,000 miles, about a year old battery. Yesterday after I filled up the gas tank my car wouldn't start. Waited about 1 minute and it started fine. This had happened about 4 months ago (I had it checked at Honda) and they said it was okay. But today I went a short distance (15 minutes from home left the car for about 5) and my car didn't want to start. What could it be?
- Why does my car keep shutting off? I have a 1994 Honda civic. Sometimes when I start my car up, right after I start it up it like dies/shuts off. I then start it again and it's fine, every time it will start on the 2nd time, but it doesn't always shut off on the first time. Does anyone know why it does this?
