Why won't my 1994 honda civic start?
Just did a tune up. Now the car cranks but won't fire. Changed plugs, cables, distributor cap and rotor. Can anyone help?
Did you determine that you had no spark? Looks like it. Do you have any spark, or are you not getting fuel?
There's a way to get OBDI fault codes from the system using the check engine light flashes. I guess you didn't get a repair manual yet. You could have a bad crank sensor if there's no spark. Did you try spraying engine starting fluid into the intake tube with the air filter removed to see if it would start?
Put the previous distributor & rotor back on to see if that makes any difference in your starting problems.
Diagnosing a fault on an unseen 20 year old car based upon so little information is asking a lot.
Describe precisely what you did for your tune up. Please state the exact Civic engine and transmission variant.
I would take it to a shop, its an older car so it could be tricky to find the problem
Was the engine running before the works? If so, you've misplaced the plug cable or the firing order. Look at the included diagram below to correct it.
If the engine has not ran before the work then the problem could be fuel or spark related. You'll need to figure out what the engine doesn't have. The follow link will show you how to test/ check
- My 1983 Honda nighthawk 650 won't start with the electric start? I recently replaced the ignition coils because the old ones were getting heat soaked and the bike would die, however now the bike won't start with the electric start it turns over fin and the starter sounds fine but it won't start occasionally it ll start when it's cold or try to but I've been having to bump start it in order to ride it. So what's making it do this? Could it be the kill switch? Or something else?
- I have a Honda HRX217 push mower. Backfired when trying to start it, now it won't start? It was running, then I shut it off to open and close a gate, and when I went to start it again there was a really loud backfire and now it won't start. It will sound like it's almost about to start but not. Then get progressively weaker each pull. I changed the spark plug and cleaned the air filter. Any ideas?
- I have a Honda Harmony HRB215 K4 SDA that won't pull start but if I take off the recoil and drill start it, it runs perfect? I have a Honda Harmony HRB215 K4 SDA that won't pull start but if I take off the recoil and drill start it, it runs perfect. I did a compressin test, the pull start only gets the mower to 60psi but the drill gets the mower to 150psi. This mower does have a decompression vale where the ehaust opest about 1/8 of the way. I tore the ead off and checked and cleaned the valves. They don't stick open. Could there be an issue with the decompression valve? Or would it be the piston rings?
- Why won't our 2002 Honda Civic start? Our 2002 Honda Civic EX, 1.7 liter, it's inconsistent about starting. We have replaced: battery, battery connector, cam sensor, crank sensor, spark plugs, ignition coils, timing has been checked and so have the heads. Pressure test was good. It cranks but won't start.
