Will 1 12 subwoofer give enough power?

I just recently got one 12" JBL CS1214 subwoofer with 1000 watts. I drive a small Honda civic coupe and i was curious to know if it would give out a lot of power in a small car or if i need 2 subs. I don't want subs so loud that it bothers other people around me while i'm driving I just want something where i can still feel it vibrating my chest and throat while i'm driving. I realize that to do that ill need at least a fairly good amp. Any thoughts on helping me with setting all of this up would be much appreciated! (I only have the sub so far)

To make it thump good, you need a good quality speaker, a quality amp with amplifier control so you can tone it down depending on what music you are listening to, or how much base you want to listen to, and a good battery and capacitor. Put those all together and have someone tune it to your car and it will last you a long time. Don't push too much power into the speaker or you will spend extra money on alternators and blown out fuses and burnt wires. Hope this helps.
