Will I be able to afford this car?

So if the Honda Civic Type R comes to the US I really want to purchase it. I'm 18 and am going into a job where I might be making $70,000 a year. The cars gonna cost about $40,000. Is that an unreasonable amount for my yearly pay? I Really want the car. If it even comes to North America.

Really?! 18 years old, without a college education, and makking $70K?! Keep dreaming kid, it isn't going to happen, job or the Civic Type R.

My rule is not to spend more than a month's pay and only pay cash.

If you are making $70,000/year, your take home will likely be less than $50,000 after taxes, retirement, insurance, so about 9 to 10 months take home income for the car. Figure full coverage insurance, plus interest and fuel, there goes a full year of income to pay for the car.

Buy a $2500 Civic/Accord, drive it for a couple years and save up/invest for your future IMO.

It won't come to North America. The worst thing you can do is start your career out with a big car payment. Better to buy a reliable inexpensive car until you see how your finances sort out.

It depense if you life alone and need to pay taxes, food etc. If not you surely can purchase the car without problems.
But before purchasing it you should check that you can life with the rest money you have.

. If that makes sense?
