Worth it to buy a 2004 Honda civic for $4000?

The honda civic has 110k and is the coupe style. I'm only going to use it for a year at school (so i won't put on many miles) and am planning on selling it next year. Is this car a good option for the situation i'm in? (My budget is only 4k so i can't go any higher in price)

It depends on the condition and history. 110k isn't that high, about 11k miles per year. But did the previous owner change the oil, auto trans fluid, brake fluid every 24 mos and coolant regularly as required? Or did owner just drive it. Check kbb.com, edmunds.com and cars.com for values then have the car checked out and spring for a history report to insure it was not a flood damaged vehicle and that it does not have a salvage or "branded" title. It is really worth the money and time to do these things since repairs will blow your budget. People sell a car for a reason. Be a good detective and determine that reason. Don't let older tires deter you just as don't be awed by a new battery and shiny paint.

Yes. The Honda civic is one of the most reliable cars out there. The car will last for many more miles… Go for it.

Check Kelly blue book. But I got a 2003 Honda civic for $3000 and it had 108,000 miles.

This Civic is still very solid if it has been properly maintained the last decade. As long as the seller can provide proof in hand service and maintenance records it would be a very safe investment.
