Would a honda civic type r be legal in USA?
I want to import a civic type r here to the us. I know it'll cost 3 grand. Idc. Would it be street legal here if I leave it stock?
No it won't unless the car goes through a conversion to meet US safety/emission standards. I've heard that the model will make it to US shores as 2017 model.
If you import the car now: The conversion will cost thousands ($8500-$12000). Can you wait?
When thousands of the cars floods the streets of US, then your type R won't be "Special" anymore and with the "Depreciation" as the car is a year older. Why waste the money?
People tend to stay away from the gray market vehicle and the converted ones unless the car is a rare ones like the Mugen RR with the beautiful "Fiji Blue Pearl" (My favorite color). The type R to me will never ever become one.
Also just to add to liverhuyen2003's answer you can't import a car younger than 25 years anyways unless it is a captive import which means they sell the exact same model over here, which would make importing pointless.

There's Honda Euro that is not avaible in the us but they have an acura tsx replacement for it. Is it only a thing under honda and acura that can make it? I mean why couldn't infinity have made a us version of the r34 r33 r32 skyline GTR in the us? I know the GTR doesn't pass the US law that is why I'm asking why can't infinity make it like Honda and acura does with the nsx/ the honda euro/acura tsx

But the right headlight of the 2008 Honda Civic Coupe I drive is able to light up. The Daytime Running Lights are always on, and I drive the 2008 Honda Civic Coupe in New York State.
