Clunk every time I shift into reverse?

I have a 2003 Acura RSX w/ 135000 miles. Every time I shift into reverse I hear a loud clunk I sometimes hear it but more faintly when it shifts to 2nd gear. The transmission shifts smoothly and I don't hear and grinding or any other abnormal sounds besides that clunk. What could the issue be? BTW honda/acura vehicles don't have ujoints since iv'e been told before it might be that.

Cv axles or bad front trans mount or motor mount have someone hold the break and watch the engine find your mounts and watch as they shift thru the gears if no tears check axles

When you park your vehicle, put your parking/emergency brake on before putting the vehicle in Park, especially if parking on an incline. If this prevents the clunking, then there's nothing to worry about besides that fact that you weren't properly parking your car and putting extra stress on parts not meant to hold the weight of the car. If this doesn't stop it, you have bigger problems.

Engine or transmission mount bad.

  • My 1999 manual honda prelude does not shift into 5th gear or reverse smoothly? My gears are smooth from 1-4 but then takes a lot of effort to go to 5th or reverse. Also when you get out of 5th or reverse it doesn't go straight into neutral like a normal manual car. They still work but it is very annoying that i have to push it into the gears and pull them out. What could the issue be? Transmission? Shift box? I plan on changing to a short throw shifter in the future.
  • 97 CBR 600 F3 shuts off every time I pull the clutch in? I have a 97 Honda Cbr 600 F3 that has been in the shop for 8 months every time I get it back the bike shuts off after 30 miles of riding it, it does this as soon as I pull in the clutch coming to a stop. That is until I lost compression in the motor and all but one cylinder stopped firing. Does anyone have any ideas as to what happened?
  • Every time I stop to get gas in my 2003 Honda element, it has trouble starting? My car recently had a completely new engine put in and now when I get gas it takes a few tries to get it started. So I put a new battery in and now I have to put my foot on the gas pedal while starting it for it to start. But it's only when I stop to get gas this happens. Every time other than that it starts just fine, no problem at all. Does anyone have any ideas what is going on?
  • Why does my Civic 5spd clunk from reverse? I have a 2001 Honda Civic 5 speed 1.7L and when I back up and let off the clutch there's a pop/clunk sound from the front end. It seems to only do it after pushing in the clutch and releasing power after reverse. I can't find anything obviously loose, is it the CV, tranny, or something else?
