Are Honda Civics or Chevy Cruze's good for the winter?
My friend is looking to buy a new car and the 2018 Civics and Cruze are going on sale because the 2019 models will be out soon.
She wants to get either of those cars. But her dad wants her to get a CRV instead because he fears that she will get stuck in snow (EVEN WITH WINTER TIRES).
He drives a 2017 GMC Sierra 4WD. He wants to get her an AWD SUV because it will be easier when it comes driving in the snow.
Are Civics bad for the snow?
Added (1). BQ: If you get stuck in the snow, should you put it in sport mode to accelerate out?
You didn't really say where you lived because that makes a difference. According to my cousins in Ohio, all weather tires and 2WD are all that you need to get around in the snow but others that live in Arizona and Colorado tell me that AWD is a necessity there. BTW, my relatives in CO tell me that AWD Suburus are very popular there. When we lived in Ohio, my father always put on snow tires and I don't remember him ever getting stuck.
Either car will be pretty good in light snow. But in deep snow both will be horrible because they have very little ground clearance. You live in Canada so you need a 4WD vehicle with good ground clearance. BTW, the Chevy Cruze is not a very dependable vehicle and I would recommend against buying one. The Civic is very dependable. The Honda CRV with 4WD would be an excellent choice. Very dependable and will be good in deep snow.
Most front wheel drive cars are better than real wheel drive cars, and awd is generally better than front wheel drive, but no car is great in the winter in really bad conditions or if the driver is inexperienced and incompetent.
You asked "BQ: If you get stuck in the snow, should you put it in sport mode to accelerate out?"
No, you are obviously a dumbass when it comes to winter driving, pretty much like you are in every other question you've asked.
2015 Honda Civic with all season tires in up to 6 inches of fresh snow hasn't let me down yet
Still looks like the Cruze is still plagued by engine and transmission problems. It is a POS.
Buy the car that you can afford. Put winter tires and you are good.
Four wheel drive (either full time or part-time as per the CRV) is always better to have in snow or other low grip conditions. But whether you <need> it depends how many months of the year you are snow bound, because the rest of the time you are lugging round all the diffs, transfer boxes and drive-shafts as dead weight. BTW avoid the Cruze. They have a lot of quality issues. Google is your friend.
THE chevy cruze IS LIKE A taxi cab OR rental car! Bare boned WITH DISK drum BRAKES THAT ARE cheap! THERE's Nothign SPECIAL ABOUT how IT DRVIES OR "feels! I WOUD LSHOOT FOR A GOO USED audi quattro OR bmw XI SERIES CAR1 tHEYA RE four wheel drivers AND CAN BE HAD FROMM cargurus FOR ABOUT $4-7,000! Then GET IT inspected AND EVALUATED FOR WHAT may BE WRONG first! THEYA RE meant TO LAST FOR 500K miels EASILY AND THE USE OF pennzoil WILOL Help THIS AS WELL! PERSONALLY to ME all GM cars but the VETTE drive like TAXI CABS with BAD road manners and FLOPPY FLOPPY suspensions!~ FORD makes a GREAT FUSION AWD and ESCAPE as well! They are as GREAT as genuein EUROPEAN cars thanks to a man named MULALLY! They are TESTED and DESIGNED in EUROPE and use ZF german suspesnions and trannies and steering systems! SInce BOTH your carshere are FRONT DRIVERS> they wil be good with SNOW but the quality of that CRUZE is SO BASE LINE and there are NO heated seats or power seats in them! BASIC cars that do NOT hold value! The TOYOTA RAV4 is ALSO a good choice, but any old AUDI will sae you on GAS ande has led the world with technology! You can even get a good used BENZ on CARGURUS like I did for less than $3500 with TAx! IT is ABOUT TIRES CHOICES as well! BRIDGESTONE kmakes a GREAT ICE TIRE< and so does MICHELIN as well.; They have NIPPLE tht grab onto the ICE like a suction cup! I would l NEvER get the CRUZE! My nephew has one with 38,000 miels and it is ALREADY acting up and the CHARGE system has blown up! HONDA has DIGNITY GM does NOT seem to have anymore! SUBARU is ALSO excellent and VW is just a down sized AUDI! FRONT DRIVE cars SAGE LIVES< but 4 wheel drive cars can run UPHILL ON ICE and keep the balance! I would NOT get thast CRUZE! I ma trying to get rid of the one my nephew just SIGNED for! It is just NOT SPECIAL! AUDI winsd in safety most times! A FORD FUSION, TAURUS or FOCUS is ALSO excllent! The FUSION uses a MAZDA engine in it! FORD is most like EUROPEAN in FEEL and MANNERS! Gmfeels DISJOINTD to me even STILL and the AUDI wil lcorner ona NICKLE! GOOD LUCK! LOVE the audi quattro! Even a good used BUICK will be good on snow and bad weather!
- I'm confused between two cars chevrolet cruze or honda city? I have find some reviews that chevy cruze having some transmission and ac vents problems & about honda city I didn't find such defects I'm rally confuse.
- Are the new generation Honda Civics all that good? I'm talking about the ones from 2017-2019 Everytime I got out on a drive I see maybe 10-15 Civics mostly black ones the LX or EX models. I even see a lot of Uber cars that are civics. My friend said they are cheap which is why people get them but they are also reliable and have outstanding fuel economy. BQ: What kind of car are you driving?
- Are Honda Civics good on gas? I just bought a 95 Honda Civic & wanted to know if they're gas guzzlers or not? & if anyone knows, how much does it usually take to fill up?
- Are Honda Civics good cars? - 1 I've looked at a few civics on carmax and I've seen that they're relatively inexpensive. Most are 2-3 years old and have under 20, 000 miles and are under 18, 000. So are they good cars? None on carmax have over 100, 000 miles so are they reliable? I'm in college now and really just want something to take me from school and work, so please be unbiased in your responses.
