Honda CR-V, Hyundai Tucson, Nissan Rogue, or Subaru Forester?
My grandma is looking for a new car and she'd prefer a small SUV. My family has no experience with Subaru and very little with Honda and Nissan, but my parents have had a very good experience with our 2013 Hyundai Sonata. From what I've heard, the Honda will hold its value the best but Hyundai offers a 10 year/100,000 mile powertrain warranty.
You already have so good information. The Honda CR-V has been the overall top rated small/mid-sized SUV for several years running. However, the Hyundai Tucson is hard to beat considering it has the best drivetrain warranty of all in it's class. The Rogue is good quality as well, but is the least fuel efficient and has a small cargo area. The Forester continues to have one of the best safety ratings in this class, but due to the All wheel drive system it's fuel economy can't compare to the others.
I have a 2007 Forester and it has been a gem with regards to driving. The only work that I have done on it in 7 years is tires, battery, belts and brake pads. As it is AWD, if you ruin a tire you need to replace them all at the same time. However, as it is AWD it is wonderful in lousy weather.
My car has held it's value very well too. As a PP mentioned, as it is AWD, it does not get the best gas mileage but this isn't really a problem as I'm not putting a lot of miles on it.
I would go with the Honda CR-V, the Subaru Forester, the Toyota RAV4 or the Mazda CX-5 in this class.
The Tuscon is ok, but their safety ratings and resale value stink compared to the competition. If you want to get a Hyundai, I would recommend the Santa Fe Sport over the Tuscon.
- Why Suzuki is not as popular as Toyota, Honda.Nissan, Mazda, and Subaru? I hardly see any Suzuki vehicles on the road, and wonder why if t is also Japanese. it appears that both Mitsubishi and Suzuki lag behind its Japanese counterparts. I feel Suzuki are very good cars, but most people fail to see that and they don't notice it.
- Nissan vs Hyundai vs Toyota vs Honda vs Scion. Which one is more reliable and a better purchase? Nissan vs. Hyundai vs. Toyota vs. Honda vs. Scion… Which one is more reliable and a better purchase?
- How did Mitsubishi compare to Honda, Toyota, Nissan, Subaru, and Mazda in the 80's, 90's, and early 2000's? I remember back in the early 2000's, I used to see many Mitsubishi's being driven. Now, I hardly see them around. Was Mitsubishi, generally, as good as the other car-makes mentioned above, in terms of general customer-satisfaction (fuel-efficiency, reliability, etc.)? In the US
- I'd like to buy a used Toyota RAV4, Honda CR-V or Hyundai Tucson, Am I better off wit 4wd/Awd or 2wd/Fwd? I live in the suburbs of Chicago and want a small SUV because it sits up high. But the question is am I better off getting an AWD/4WD or a FWD/2WD model? I'm tempted on getting a FWD model to save on gas, insurance and slap on some snow tires in the winter. But I've heard that AWD models hold their value better though.
