CVT transmission problem?
I have a 2011 Honda PCX scooter that is technically brand new. (It had 1 mile on it when I bought it) It was purchased at a dealership and I've had it for a month so far. At around 3 or 400 miles, I noticed that there was this kind of grinding noise that seemed to be coming from my transmission. I don't know if it's the belt doing this or if it's something else. Or could it be normal due to it being brand new and maybe it's settling? I'm taking it to get serviced next week but, I figure I would ask around here to see if anyone might know why my scooter is making this noise. I should also mention that the scooter sat for 3 years in the showroom and was probably never driven.
Belts dry out and without regular use tend to set into shape to it could be alternately tight and loose as it rotates, but if this only started after 3-400 miles it is unlikely to be the problem.
Can't be sure without hearing the noise.
Could be the clutch weights grinding.
The clutch weights # 5 are like brake shoes (as in drum brakes).

When the engine RPM increase, cylindrical force throw the weights out and the padding rubs against the clutch outer # 1
The clutch outer acts like the drum, as in drum brakes.
If the noise goes away as the bike starts moving,
that could be the problem.
Not serious.
A squealing noise would be the belt slipping.
- Which CVT transmissions use a clutch and which uses a torque converter? Lineartronic CVT Honda CVT Xtronic CVT etc What I know is that Subaru s CVT uses a clutch while Nissan CVT uses a torque converter am I right?
- Honda Jazz 2005 CVT (UK)? Buying 2005 Jazz CVT. Want to know how are the Honda parts compare with other make price wise. Overall hows the maintenance cost of Honda makes (specifically Jazz). Being CVT 1.3 how's the pickup of the car?
- How is the noise level inside a late model Honda Fit with CVT? I have the FIT on my short list for a retirement vehicle when my 2004 Focus dies on me. Some people say the transmission is noisy and I wonder what other people think about it. I really like the amount of safety tech on the 2018 model but I do not want a car any noisier than my 2.3L Focus.
- Is it true what they say about CVT transmissions? They say that CVT is noisy, unreliable, expensive to fix and just plain weird like slipping feeling and no shift points. I'm thinking about buying a Honda CR-V or Nissan Murano both equipped with CVT but probably wouldn't if above are true.
