Car power comes on but car won't start?

My car was driving fine yesterday. I put some fuel injector fluid into the car and gassed up. I went home and parked it and a hour later the car wouldn't start. Everyone keeps telling me that the fuel injector fluid isn't the issue. The power comes on inside the car, the lights work, but the brake won't move and allow me to move the clutch. I have a 2015 Honda Fit. Its a push button vehicle. You press the brake down and push the button to start. The button itself turns the power on, but the brake won't budge. We've tested the battery and the battery is good. Any ideas on what it could be?

The vacuum has leaked out of the brake booster, but if you press the brake as hard as you can, you might be able to start the car.

Assuming the fuel additive went into the fuel tank, it is not the problem. Read the owners manual or call your dealer. Its got to be an easy thing, somehow you did not shut it down exactly correct last time.

"Push button" cars need to make contact between the car and the key fob for the ignition to activate. Could be that the battery in your key fob is weak. Change the battery in your key fob and try again.

Pressing brake pedal instead of clutch pedal?

If it's is a stick shift, push clutch all the way in
If the car is an auto make sure it is in Park.

Check that the battery connections are good.

Tap the solenoid with a broom handle.

Still no good, call out a mechanic.

Could be a bad parking switch. Try starting it in Neutral. If that works then you have a bad parking switch.

Here is a thought I just went through here recently, I have a 1998 Oldsmobile and after months of replacing the battery, i was told that the battery did not have a strong cold crank. I had to have it replaced with a stronger battery because of the electronics in my car. It now works great!

  • I have a Honda Harmony HRB215 K4 SDA that won't pull start but if I take off the recoil and drill start it, it runs perfect? I have a Honda Harmony HRB215 K4 SDA that won't pull start but if I take off the recoil and drill start it, it runs perfect. I did a compressin test, the pull start only gets the mower to 60psi but the drill gets the mower to 150psi. This mower does have a decompression vale where the ehaust opest about 1/8 of the way. I tore the ead off and checked and cleaned the valves. They don't stick open. Could there be an issue with the decompression valve? Or would it be the piston rings?
  • How come my atv won't electric start but will crank if I push start it? 2006 Honda trx. Doesn't have a pull rope only electric start. The starter motor turns over the engine but just won't start but I'll push it down the yard with it in gear and it will fire right up. I'm so confused by this.
  • My car won't start but when I try to start it, it sounds like a power drill? I have a 95 Honda Civic and it does not start it keeps making a noise that sounds like a power drill spinning. I have no idea what it is or could be any more. I've pulled the starter and put in a new one and the starter is still not catching the fly wheel. I have even resorted to charging the battery, checking all fluids (transmission, antifreeze, etc.) and putting in 5 gallons of gas but still nothing, can't pay to get it to a shop. Anything helps thanks.
  • My car won't move in any gear under its own power but rolls in park while making a grinding noise I drive a 08 Honda Civic LX automatic. Yesterday I tried to take off from a stop and heard a loud metal snapping sound followed by loud grinding. Then it wouldn t move under its own power in any gear even reverse. It starts just fine, even idles as if nothing s wrong, will rev too. I have to have the emergency brake on because it rolls in park. In park it also makes grinding noises.
