Lost my only car key. Locksmith cost?
Just a wiped out college student that got tired after midterms and doesn't know where his keys went.
I checked my dorm and can't find anything. It was my ONLY key to my 2006 Honda Accord. The good news is that I've saved money for emergencies like this. I have around $400. The bad news is that my car is locked, and I Really don't want to tow it. I lost my keys before and a locksmith came and 'cut' a new key to fit precisely. Locksmiths, is $400 a decent price to have a locksmith come to your house, open your locked car, and make a new key?

Call your nearest Honda dealer. Perhaps they know a less expensive way to solve your problem. If you bought your Honda used from a dealer you know, they might have a record of your "key code" and can maybe arrange for a replacement fairly quickly.
You can usually open up a car relatively easily if you can fashion a wooden wedge to insert between the door frame and door post. A straightened coat hanger could then be fashioned and inserted through the gap to release the interior lock lever. But once in the car, what do you do? Even if you "hot wire" the car to start it, you will need the electronic key to enable the steering and put the car into gear. You may be able to have a dealer provide you with a new key if you provide them with the car's serial number. This might save the cost of having a locksmith pay you a visit or a tow, but it will still cost several hundred dollars for a new key.
Hi why not do the next best thing go to a honda dealer with the VIN number of the car.
the VIN number is often displayed just inside the windshield. From this Vin number honda could cut a key with a lot less cost.

Over priced, the key was under $200, programming was about 50$, do the math.
Call around - automotive locksmith cost, availability, and ability to program your 2006 Accord vary widely. The second source has more info, but for some reason this sort of thing always happens at night or on weekends when it all costs about 50% more.
