Will my high mileage car make this roadtrip?

Here is my situation. I'm 21. I drive a 2009 Honda Fit manual transmission. I'm moving to Phoenix and it will be a 1600 mile drive. Unfortunately I'm a delivery driver at Domino's but I expect to have 140k miles on my car by the end of this month by the move date. I've tried really hard to take care of it. I've stayed on top of oil changes with mobile 1, struts/shocks changed, new tires, alignment, new brakes, coolant, serpentine belt, air filter, cabin air filter, and changing spark plugs next week. I knows hondas last forever however I just want to make sure do everything I can to prepare. I have roadside assistance, full size spare, tools, ect
Personally I think me and my Honda can do this without a sweat BUT I just wanted others opinions before hand. I've done almost all of these things recently (other than oil of course) so its cost me a pretty penny but I this is a small gamble so I want to do this smart. Car has timing chain btw.

Added (1). I changed the serpentine belt with an oem belt, kyb struts/shocks, new sway bar links, hawk brake pads/brembo rotors, valvoline honda coolant, always mobile 1 high mileage, and got alignments often since I have a lifetime alignment. I know I've purchased "over qualified" parts for the mileage of my car but since it's my income, I really need it to last, and although I'm not a fan of my car performance wise. Its treated me well. It saved me I'm really tough times and really deserves quality.

Added (2). I also will/have a battery jumper just incase… But batteries are $100 anyway if something goes wrong

Did you get a replacement timing belt done at the 100 k service
If not then there's a possibility of belt failure
If it has a chain, no worries

'Will' it? No one can see the future so no one can give a definite answer.

But I would guess yes…

Its a honda. Its only just run in .about time you manned up. I drove around america. And i mean around .seattle -san diego -key west -buffalo. Only had a road map… No probs .next week i'm back to Barcelona .im my 2008 renault van… Will drive non stop .over 1.000 miles each way… And i'm a pensioner! I only ever use mobil1 .what's your problem?

Check all the fluid levels and off you go.

Take the stress out find repair shop to go over the car before you leave. Tell them to give you recommendations on what needs to be done before leaving and what can wait till you get there. We charge a 100 bucks for this service then it could go up depending if anything needs to be done now

Sounds good to me, make sure tire pressure is correct by the sidewall markings and drive safe! My F150 has 305k miles, still running good, and I would not hesitate to drive cross country with it.

The way you take care of your car, I expect it to last forever. I figure it is just as likely to complete the trip as it is to last until the trip. Highway miles are easy. I have vehicles with way more mileage and would not think twice

With proper routine maintenance. 140,000 is nothing.

I hope you've got AC if you're coming to Phoenix.

My wife's 2002 Honda Jazz 1.4 manual was regularly used for the 12-15 hour 600 mile journey between southeast England and Scotland until it was written-off last year by being rear-ended in London by a moped.

I maintained it very well, but hardly assiduously, and other than a check of the tyres and always the oil level (changed annually/every 10k miles) we just used to load it up and set off. Much of the journey wherever traffic density allowed was at 70+ mph. We only stopped for fuel and whenever we were worn out.

The longest journey we used the car for a few times was the 2000 mile run from south London to Athens in Greece. With both of us sharing the driving around the clock that used to take about 30-36 hours. Again, never any problem for the car despite some serious gradients and a heavy load.

Barring unpredictable bad luck, your car should do fine as it's even better maintained than the one we had and much newer. Yours might even be the Mk2 Fit/Jazz.

  • I'm buying a bike/scooter 125cc, what would be considered high or low mileage? I'm looking to purchase a Honda CBF, Honda CBR, Aprilla RS, Yamaha YBR or Yamaha YZF… Any recommendations? Anyway, to the main point! I was wondering what a high mileage for a 125cc scooter/motorbike would be? And how old of a mototbike I should get? I understand that it depends on how the person has looked after the bike etc however, what would be considered a high mileage, low mileage and medium mileage?
  • How do i convince my dad that the 2013 Honda Fit can handle a 400-km roadtrip without a problem? He keeps insisting that pickup trucks are better for roadtrips just because they have bigger engine and that the Honda Fit engine will overheat well my car hasn't shown any sign of possible engine failures Well I say that subcompact cars are better for roadtrips because they are more fuel efficient…
  • Is it normal for my car mileage to increase rapidly? I just got this Honda cr v 2014 three weeks ago. I drive it back and froth from work. So weekly I do 20 miles. On the first day I got it is was 18 miles. Now it is at 1100. I have already been to Honda twice. They say it is no problem. Can someone assure me this is normal… Or is there something wrong with the car.
  • Is 190560 miles on a 98 Honda civic lx considered high mileage? My sister gave me her civic and it runs great. There's hasn't been major problems since I've had it, other than the coil. With the right amout of money it was an easy fix. I've been wanting to change the oil but the guy at Wal-Mart suggested that I use the high mileage oil. I don't think it'll really hurt my car at any rate but is my car really high mileage?
