Will thieves steal my $100 rims?

I'm planning to buy new rims for my 2008 Honda Fit. I bought it used and the hubcaps don't look great. I plan to invest 4x $100 roughly.

Are thieves willing to steal these rims?

So… Do you live in an area where people could jack up the car and remove the rims without anyone noticing, or calling the cops? If I lived in an area like that I don't think I'd bother owning a car.

Fits aren't exactly Mercedes. I think your rims will be safe.

Theives are willing to bust a window for 5 dollars. If they want it bad enough they will try to steal it. However, $400 rims arent too terribly expensive.

I had my window smashed out for a $6. Pair of dime store sunglasses.

Get the rims and a set of "gorilla" brand wheel locks - those locks can't be removed by any tool ( you may want to get an extra key too )

Reality is that $100 are not high on their list. $1000 on the other hand, would be. Get locking lug nuts to make it harder.

Yes, they will.

They stole stock ones, and lug nuts, valued at 25bucks for all 4.

Sometimes people steal anything. Like a break your window for a quarter because need pay phone phone call.

  • Should I buy a 2013 car with 100,000 mileage? May I ask for your advice? I found a used car registerd in 2013 at a very cheap price. The brand is excellent - we're talking about Honda, Nissan, Mercedes here. However, its mileage is 100,000. If you were in my situation, would you think it is worthwhile to buy? How long can that kind of car last?

  • Good cars over 100,000 miles? I'm looking to purchase a used car. I have a budget of $7600 and everything I'm finding is over 100,000 miles or kept in poor condition. I talked to one of my friends who is a mechanic and he told me that mileage is everything but I can't find anything low mileage in my price range. He told me to look at Toyota and Honda but I really don't like either. My question is what other cars should I be looking into purchasing?
  • When did Honda stop making their easy to steal Models? I'm looking at and choosing between a 2003 Honda Civic 2 door coupe with 150k, and a 2002 Toyota Celica with 169k. I know most people would go for the Civic, but I don't want to end up as one of those people who loses their car due to an easy break in. So please, should I invest in the Civic or move on to getting something else.
