How long do you buy a car?

So last week, me and my parents go to Honda dealership and aso the detail about a car and finally filling the form to buy the car. When I ask the salesman how long the car will be delivered, he said the car will be delivered i 2-3 months (mid-late October or early November)

So my question is does the delivery process is this long? Taking 2-3 months to deliver?

Yes, it can. When you buy a car, you can choose one that is on the lot and take delivery the same day, or you can choose a car that the dealer is anticipating to receive in the future, in which case you have to wait longer. This lets you choose exact options and in your case, probably the upcoming model year which has not shipped yet.

I made a deal for my new car and drove it home the same day. So you must have special ordered it or have financing issues that need to be worked out.

You must have ordered a special car with special features. Many Honda vehicles are made in Japan, which would clearly explain why it takes so long to get here. But even those that are made in the US can take a while to be manufactured and delivered.

Or maybe you pre-ordered a 2016 vehicle that has not even been manufactured yet.

I would be curious as to why you ordered a custom Honda. Most custom orders are for high-end cars like Porsche or Mercedes. Hondas only come in a relatively few configurations and most dealers either have them in stock or can quickly get them from another nearby dealer. Actually, I've never heard of known of anyone custom ordering a Honda. Very unusual.

It sounds like your parents ordered a 2016 model which is not in stock or available until October. The dealer should have a lot of 205 models available for immediate delivery.
