How much should it cost to clean a carburetor on a honda cb 360?
I'm looking at a 76 cb360 and I found a Mmi mechanic that does work on the side. He said it would cost $150 to go through and clean the whole thing. Does that sound right? Or is that high for a backyard mechanic?
Added (1). Don't tell me to do it myself. I'm not mechanically inclined and don't want to deal with it.
Finding anyone to work on those old Jap bikes can be quite a challenge in case you haven't already found out, So what's it matter what he's charging, if you don't like the price find someone else to do the job, I've been working on bikes for 40 years, although I'm a high paid heavy equipment mechanic I still do it on the side, does that make me a backyard mechanic? In case your wondering I charge $120 an hour and turn down more work than I take in
You DO realize that MMI is a tech. SCHOOL, right? Is this guy a graduate, or a student? Price is on the high side, but since you're unwilling to do it, someone has to. Cough it up. Have fun when it breaks down on the road, and some rudimentary mechanical ability is the difference between being stranded or being back in the wind.
If you arent interested in doing it yourself, then you need to pay someone experienced who can take it apart, with specialist tools, fit the rebuild kit of gaskets and tiny parts that is likely available online, and put it all back together again. I personally don't know any bikers who are NOT mechanically inclined. Pay the guy.
Just remove the jets and clean the varnish out of them. 3 bucks for some carb. Cleaner and ten minutes.
- What should I go with? Single carburetor or twin? I'm trying to get my honda rebel ip and running but can't find another carburetor anywhere! Anywhere that has it assembled anyway. But on ebay, they have a surplus of twin carburetors for cheaper than the single. Should I get the twin? What differences will there be if I do?
