I'm stuck: BMW or Mercedes?

I'm 16 and am looking to purchase my first car. I really want a German performance car My budget is $15-20k, and yet I can't decide between a Bimmer or a Benz. What type of car would you guys recommend (preferably 2007 and up).

Hmm, 2007 Mercedes and BMWs are usually 15-20k so if thats your budget, your looking to spending 300-400$ a month. Both these cars are great in their own ways. It really depends on what type of model of car you are trying to get. The large luxury vehicles are the BMW-7 series and the Mercedes S-Class, those are my personal favorites and I own 2 S-Classes and 1 7-Series but since your a student, I don't think you'd want a large vehicle like that. Overall I'd personally choose the BMW-7 series over the S-Class for years 2007-2010. I mean its up to you, both are great cars in their own different ways. If you want a small Sedan, you can lease a 2014 Mercedes C250 for 300$ I believe, but the car is garbage in my opinion. The BMW competitor, the 3-series, maybe a bit more expensive but its a better option rather than the C250 (both 2014). For a mid-size luxury sedan, the Mercedes E-Class for 2014 is 400-500$ a month but you can find a 4-5 year old model cheaper. The BMW has the 5-Series that is way better in my opinion, but a bit more expensive to my knowledge. Don't get a new S-Class or a 7-Series because both cars are 90k lmao. I'd say, you should get a 2004-2005 S500. That car is 15k (perfect for your budget), it looks beautiful, and it isn't too outdated. But expect issues of the car to come up. That is my recommendation for you but if you really want a 2007+ car, get a BMW. Anything older, 2002-2006, get a Mercedes.

Both are great reliable cars, however you need to know another thing: it's that once you bought one of these cars, did you think about the huge price of the insurance ( since powerful and expensive cars) ?
Then the price of the gas, since they need a large amount of it?
The repairs and maintenance are expensive as well, ex: a draining for a little Ford like mine is not at all expensive, but for one BMW or Benz it is!
But perhaps your parents are ready to pay for all these expenses? I just want to tell you that you have to take into account all those things I mentioned more up.

Doesn't matter. These two brands are equal in every way that matters. Anyway any car made after 2002 is useless piece of scrap due to environmental bulls.t
Go for 2001 BMW M3 E46 - You will kill yourself in that in no time.

Mercedes is for the old. GO BMW!

BMW for engine, Mercedes for luxury.
