Is Mobil 1 a good oil to use?
Like on any Honda, Nissan, Chevy is it good? I used the 5W-30 version on my last oil change earlier this month. I did it at a Nissan dealer. He offered the cheaper conventional oil but my personal mechanic I had in the past suggested to always get Mobil 1. The conventional oil was $50 cheaper than Mobil 1.
Does it run better with your car? My friend said its a scam and he rarely gets oil changes. He leases a car for 1 year every year so he never really does oil changes.
BQ: Would mobile 1 work on a Rolls Royce?
I'd say it's pretty darn good.
It's no better than any other name brand oil
READ the owner's manual and put the oil with the recommended API specification (or ACEA) and viscosity. That is ALL you need to do.
No it's overpriced. You can buy fully synthetic oil online for a fraction of the price of Mobil 1. It's all to the same specification too.
Yes
It's good oil. It meets most of the highest testing standards to date, ACEA A1/B1, A5/B5, API SN, ILSAC GF-5. You should consult your owners manual for correct weight, many new cars specify thinner oil than you used, including most Nissans.
$50 surcharge is too much.
Retail you cay buy 5 quarts for $25 so even if their convention oil costs as little as $2 a quart the surcharge shouldn't be more than $15.
That price sounds like they stock it for people that insist on using it, but they are not fans, and they are trying to discourage it by price gouging.
If you don't change the regular oil every 3,000 miles tarnish builds up in the cam advance actuators and they start to stick and throw codes for the cam timing being off. It turns into a $1200 job on Nissan's 2.5 liter motor. The timing chains also stretch and jump time. Using Mobil 1 is best. You still need to change the synthetic oil every 5,000 miles.
Your friend that never changes oil is an idiot.
BMW ran a test .million miles .non stop .using MOBIL 1 . Only stopped for fuel and service… After test the engine was stripped .95% of moving parts could have been resold… As new… I use it every time .minimum 18.000 miles between service… That getting more standard in europe… AUDI .FORD .MERC ETC are all doing service .every two years. Or 19000 miles. All are on synthetics… Remember STP? Scientifically treated petroleum… That was the first fully synthetic oils
- Honda CRF150F 2014, what oil should I use? I have do change the oil on my CRF150F and was wondering what the best oil to use is? I know in the manual it says to use 10W-30 but which brand and where from in brisbane?
- If in the owners manual it says I should use 5W-20 motor oil, can I use 10W-40 motor oil instead? I have a 2009 Honda Fit. I just recently bought 10W-40 and when I got home to put oil in the manual said 5W-20. What's the difference? And is it okay if I still use the 10W-40?
- Oil Change: Honda Motor Oil Vs Generic oil, does it make a difference? I have been getting oil changes with Honda motor oil for 15 years on my 2002 civic that now has 132K miles. If I switch to a generic $10 oil change garage shop will it still be ok? I know the Honda filters are better then the cheapest generic ones but how about the actual motor oil?
- If I have an oil leak should I continue to use Synthetic oil? I have Honda civic 1997 lx sedan, I have an oil leak on the left side of the engine. By the distributer. My question is, is it worth using synthetic oil even though there's a leak? Or should I just use conventional oil because there's a leak?
