Is programming a remote for a car hard?

I ordered a new remote for my 98 Honda after losing mine. I ordered online and it comes with instructions. Will this be hard to program? Do I need to program all my remotes at the same time or just the new one?

Why you asking where to get one if you already ordered and have one coming?!

Easy to do. You have to do all remotes at the same time

98 honda Accord

Note:
Entering the programming mode cancels all learned keyless remotes, so none
of the previously programmed remotes will work. You must reprogram all of the
keyless remotes once you are in the programming mode.
You must complete each step within 5 seconds of the previous step to keep the
system from exiting the programming mode.

1. Turn ignition switch to ON (II)

2. Press the LOCK or UNOCK button on one of the remotes. (An unprogrammed
remote can be used for this step.)

3. Turn ignition switch to LOCK (0)

4. Repeat steps 1, 2 and 3 two more times using the same keyless remote used
in step 2

5. Turn the ignition switch to ON (II)

6. Press the LOCK or UNLOCK button on the same remote. Make sure the power door
locks cycle to confirm you are in programming mode.

7. Press the LOCK or UNLOCK button on each remote you want to program. Make
sure door locks cycle after you push each remote button to confirm system has
accepted the remote.

8. Turn the igniton switch to LOCK (0) to exit programming mode.

9. Test remote(s)

98 Civic (What I drive)

1. Turn Key to on position.

2. Push and hold **valet button on the stock radio. Door locks will cycle one time.

3. Press any button on remote one time within 20 seconds. Door locks will cycle again.

4. To program up to 4 additional remotes repeat step 3 for each additonal remote.

5. Turn key off programming is complete.

**Valet button is skinny bar located between am/fm & cd/tape buttons on stock radio.

  • 2014 honda civic keyless remote programming? Ok so I guess I have 2 questions in 1. First is it possible to program a replacement keyless entry remote if I've never had one since I got the car? In other words there's no original id be programming the first one. And 2 is it possible to program the remotes from my 2003 honda pilot which I don't need anymore to my 2014 civic?
  • How hard is it to chip a car? Hi, so I have a 1986 Honda prelude 1.8L dual carb manual. Would putting a performance chip in my car do anything? And would it be worth it to do? And also how hard to do?
  • After replacing our car battery, our remote starter just turns and turns without actually starting the car? My wife has a 2010 Honda Fit and we just had to replace the battery. We got a remote starter installed from Best Buy in either 2010 or 2011. But after the recent battery replacement, the remote starter responds by just cranking and not starting. It does like three sets of cranking before stopping. I don't remember the brand of remote starter, but anyone have any insight of what I need to do?
  • My car won't unlock w/ the key remote? I've a 2000 Honda Civic. Today, the unlock remote wouldn't unlock the car. However, when I press the remote, the little light on the remote still blinks red. So does that mean it's my CAR that's the prob? *r u guy saying replace battery in the remote, or in my car?
