Is there a modern car as fun as the Honda S2000?
I'm considering a 2005 S2000 with 36K miles on it. It runs great, but is still 10 years old and no warranty. Plus, it has some age-related damage. Is there a modern car that compares to it as far as size, ride, comfort, performance, reliability, etc… That doesn't cost and arm and a leg?
Go to carmax (they have their own site as well) and research all the cars you would consider. The newer the car or the least amount of miles means the car is more pricier on the price tag. Carmax specializes in in USED CARS, but are pretty strict on the condition they are in, so you can be sure that the car you buy will not be very worn out, even if it has more than 50k miles. They have many locations throughout the US and can transfer for free (most) or for a small fee to the nearest Carmax location to you so you can look at the car in person, test drive, etc.
We have used Carmax twice. In 2010 we bought a 2008 Hyundai Santa Fe with only about 20k miles on it. It was a car for rentals. Very good shape, clean interior, no scratches on the exterior, and everything was working fine… Still have it and no issues. It was about $22-25k. We saved up money over the years so we paid it in full so no monthly payments except the insurance every 6 month from state farm.
About a week ago we got another Hyundai Santa Fe which is a 2012 and it had 31k miles on it, 2 owners, was used as a rental. Very clean. Only a few minor dings on the exterior in places you really don't notice at it was $20k. We're actually paying month for that put we had $10k to put down. You have to use their lenders, but can easily be transferred to your own lender of choice so we had it transferred to our credit union couple days after we bought it (our credit union pays off the other lender in turn we have a new loan from credit union but no longer a loan from the carmax lenders).
Hi if that car has only done 36k miles in 10 years it must be worth a far bit of money.
so No is the answer to your question. So not much would go wrong with it with only 36 k on it. The problems start with the modern car when they approach 70 k miles.
I have the same concerns when I was looking for a new car last year. I wanted to get an S2000 for about $18,0000 with 30K miles on it from my cousin, but I need a daily driver that would be easier to use in the Winter. I chose a 2015 Honda Civic Ex-L and don't regret it at all. I love the leather seats and all the modern features. It's not as fast or fun as the S2000, but I had a Civic before and it last 10 years without any issues before getting totaled by a drunk driver.
I suggest Miata's if you want something comparable, but they are tiny compared the S2000. I like the looks of their hard-tops. Also the BMW Z4, but they are around $50K brand new. Also an older Mercedes SLK 230 would be comparable as well. My dad has a yellow 2001 SLK 230 and still get compliments on it all the time.
- Are toyota corollas fun to drive or no? So i want cheap car under $5,000. And i heard toyota corollas are fairly reliable and drive like honda civics. Is that true? i kinda like how the 1998-2002 model looks and i found one for $3200 with 86k miles and year 2002.
- Need fun facts about the book Uglie by Scott Westerfeld? I'm doing a book report and I need some kind of a "did you know" fact. It can be as simple as if the book takes place in California, a fact about California. Or if the main character drives a Honda, a fact about Hondas. I need something, anything!
- Are modern bikes good for stunting? Most of the stunt bikes I see are usually older bikes from the early 2000's such as the f4i. I'm not sure if it's simply because they are cheap or because modern bikes don't have the power due to emissions regulation. So my question is are modern/current 600's good for stunting (if you give it a custom map and the works) mainly the cbr600rr ('13-beyond) because I like honda.
- Is a $20,000 Honda S2000 07 worth buying? This man I know is selling his Honda s2000 year 2007 for 20 grand. Is it worth buying? Everything's in good condition
