Is there a third party navigation for Hondas?
My car didn't come with the accessory package that has navigation. Can I buy a third party navigation? Or do I have to buy a modification from Honda?
You can easily buy a portable GPS unit and mount it either on the dash or the windshield.
But if you want an in-dash unit, your options just became much more limited. Speak with your Honda dealer and ask if a factory navigation unit can be retrofitted on your model. You can also check with aftermarket suppliers to see if an aftermarket unit will work in your Honda.
There are sites for "After Market" GPS/ NAV for your Honda. If you can specify the year, model and the trim code (Ex, Dx Etc) then it would be helpful. This is one of those sites:

Honda does have an official web site that you can: Subscribe, Downloads and Updates for the third party units. The site app finds and organizes HondaLink ™ and Honda-approved 3rd-party apps so they can be integrated into your vehicle and then displayed on the screen.

The link above is just for your information, you do not have to go with their subscription. Updating your maps for your GPS navigation system from time to time may sound time-consuming and costly. But really all you need is an Internet connection to get third party maps for your GPS navigation system. Third party maps, or "free maps," are always downloadable from the Net.
Look for a Web site that offers free maps using an Internet search engine. Type in keywords that are relative to the sort of maps you desire, as well as the make and model of your GPS system. Choose from the Web site's gallery of their free downloadable versions of the map software. Most often, these Web sites offer demos and trial downloads, as well as maps for purchase. Try one of them:

Make sure to read all the necessary information about the map software available on the Web site. Know each of their memory needs, important features and bonus features. Pick out the software that you think can best assist you in traveling. Make sure that the software you have chosen is perfectly compatible with your navigation system. Enough for it, let's get back to the 3rd party unit:
You can get a much better unit aftermarket and even after installation and adapter to work with steering wheel controls, and it will still be far less more than thousands of cocos (more than $1500), which is a complete rip off for the OEM unit you'll get. Now if Honda was charging $1000 then maybe you could argue it's a half decent value while maintaining factory look, shop around, if not you'll pay far more than you should with OEM unit compare to aftermarket ones.
My daughter FIT with a JVC KW-NT300 was $814 out the door of Best Buy in December 2012, that price included taxes and extended warranty. I installed it with ease due to the wiring harnesses is there when the car built, regardless what option you choose. Most are just Plug & Play. Later I found the same unit on Sonicelectronix.com for $499 with free shipping. The question is: Why bother with the OEM unit with so limited in functions?
You can have the unit you'll buy and the installation labor is about $200, even at an expensive local car audio shop that warranties their work. Just make sure the unit you buy is fit.

Give us the Model, the year and the trim code so I can go in depth about your need to know or answer the question more into details. Also you may need the ETM which contain the electrical troubleshooting and the needed wiring diagram just in case. Hope I have given enough materials for you to start on the researching and choosing the right 3rd party unit. You'll like it. HTH
